The Six Parts of a Filed Petition
The Six Parts of a Filed Petition 1. Standing The right to be heard at all. In every case this rests on the blood of Jesus Christ and the believer’s place in covenant — not on the petitioner’s performance. Hebrews 10:19 gives boldness to enter by the blood. State it. Beginning here settles the conscience before the asking begins. 2. Ground The clause you are pleading. This is where the scriptures matter. You are not reminding God of what He said because He has forgotten; you are aligning your request with His revealed will, which 1 John 5:14 makes the condition of confidence. 3. Confession The removal of obstruction. Where sin, unforgiveness, or a broken relationship stands in the way, deal with it before the request is made. Psalm 66:18 and 1 Peter 3:7 both name this as a hindrance to being heard. 4. The Request The specific thing asked for, with names, figures, and dates. This is the aitēma — the item. If you cannot say what you want, you are not yet ready to file. 5. Enforcement Where the matter involves an enemy — a sickness, a spirit, an accusation, a snare — the tone changes from asking God to addressing the intruder in the authority already delegated. Petition and command are two different acts and should not be blurred into one another. 6. Seal Thanksgiving offered before the evidence arrives, and the petition closed in the name of Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6 puts thanksgiving inside the request itself, not after the answer. It is the petitioner’s signature.

📚 HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT | AUGUST 16–22, 2026
📚 HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT | AUGUST 16–22, 2026 This week’s homework assignment is a group petition-writing exercise. Each facilitator group will work together to write an original petition based on its assigned topic. Your completed petition will be presented by your group on your scheduled Wrap-Up Day.
