✨ Wander Wednesdays #6
What is something you have noticed in nature recently that can't be captured in a photograph?

The smell of the redwood forest. It’s different than any other forest smell and makes you want to take slow, deep breaths to take it in.
🍃Checking in from The Patch
How are things in your corner of the world today? I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to respond with a single word, a sentence, a photo, or even a particularly apt emoji if you’d like! Longer answers are welcome as well. 😊

I’m traveling with extended family, which is somewhat stressful. But we went to my favorite place yesterday, Muir Woods. (Can you spot the wren in the last picture? I knew it was a wren by its tail. 😉)
Wander Wednesday #3: Do you have a "Patch"?
I would love to see your "patch," a place that you return to again and again and are quite familiar with. It could be a view out of a window, a small garden you enjoy relaxing in, or a favorite walking path.

Lately, due to high temps and poor air quality, my patch is just the windows to my backyard, but, luckily, we have lots of wildlife. I love watching our rabbits.
🧵Patchwork
What have you baked, crocheted, grown, painted, written, photographed, mended, built, or noticed this week? In reading our members' bios and answers to the community membership questions, it is apparent we have a group of makers, creators, and dreamers. Patchwork will be our weekly place to gather and share what we have been making. Patchwork is a collection that grows over time, and each piece is unique . . . just like the members of our community. Let's create something beautiful together. To share, comment below. If you would like, you can attach a photo to your post by selecting the paperclip "attach" button and choosing the file from your phone or computer. P.S. I hope you will spread the love and cheer on our members as they share what they have made. A "like" can go a long way :)

These are some of my favorite nature photos from our trip to Point Pelee last weekend.
15-Minute Friday #1
In a fast-paced world filled with noise, our nervous systems spend a lot of time on high alert. Life is often not only loud but busy. And when emphasis is placed on "optimizing" our lives or "hacking" our days, it feels like there is no time left for rest. However, in a recent conversation with my therapist, she mentioned that as little as 15 minutes a day away from screens and constant stimulation can help give our nervous systems a chance to settle. I was definitely a little taken aback. With so many people championing elaborate, romantic routines that seem to stretch on for hours, I've often wondered how they accomplish anything in their days. And that makes it easy to say, "Maybe I'll start tomorrow." But fifteen minutes feels achievable, and I'm pretty sure that's the point. We don't need to buy anything or try to become someone new. We just need 15 quiet minutes to return to ourselves and the present moment. . . . I plan to post a new 15-Minute Friday check-in each week. And I'd love for you to join the conversation. In the United States, it's a holiday weekend, and it might be a very busy time for many. It's times like these when we perhaps need the biggest push to make our well-being a priority. 𝐒𝐨 𝐈'𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰: 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐝? 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦? You deserve 15 minutes for yourself each day. I hope you will join me. :) Amanda

We read together every night for at least half an hour. Sometimes it’s in a screen for a downloaded book, but we don’t count that.
