Just brought home a birds of paradise today! any tips and tricks for this specific plant?

Hi-is it a tropical bird of paradise, Mexican bird of paradise, or Yellow Bird of paradise? The tropical bird of paradise would have different care than the other 2. The tropical is going to look more like a palm, the others are bushy.

Are you going to keep it inside or outside?
New Hoya
Found some new Hoya at the Whitfill nursery! I love this place! 🩷🌿🪴👍 Has anyone else been there recently-any good finds? 🙂

Such a beautiful Hoya. That’s a great find! I love Whitfill. I haven’t been there in about a month but they had so many hard to find rare houseplants to choose from when I was there in October. I was in Queen Creek on Wednesday so I stopped by Desert Horizon Nursery but unfortunately was disappointed with the lack of selection of houseplants. In the past Desert Horizon has had a great variety.

@Malory Ollmann - such a good idea to call before going to see if there’s a recent shipment.
Fall growth🩷🌿
In Arizona, we have two growing seasons, spring and fall and I’m starting to see the burst of lovely growth as the fall season is finally here. What are your fall growth spurts? Does anyone fertilize in the fall time?

The summer heat hit my outdoor plants really hard this year compared to previous years. Thank goodness we had those heavy rain storms in October. Those rain really helped my plants do a 180. The flowers have started blooming again. I use the brand Arizona’s Best Tree & Shrub granular fertilizer on my outdoor plants in the spring and fall.

Does anyone have any scary plants? Or ugly green plant monsters? Here’s a few of mine-scary yellow leaves anyway😉

@Malory Ollmann - yes, I think it’s a pubicalyx Hoya- you can never have too many Hoyas.
Make shift plant pins
Do you have a bald headed plant that you want to thicken up at the top and need some plant pins, but don’t have any-I just used hairpins and bent them to shape and they worked pretty well.

I’ve done the same with hair pins. Such a great hack.
