SWIPE FOR AN EPIC LOVE STORY…
LET’S TALK ABOUT THE PART OF THE STORY I RARELY TELL ⤵️ I met Chris after praying: “God, I am so tired of being played, cheated on, and feeling unstable in relationships. I’m committing to You that I’ll be celibate until marriage and just start praying for my husband sight unseen…” I met him a few months later, and within two weeks I knew he was my husband… like without a doubt… Y’all won’t find a single wedding photo of us anywhere because we’ve never had a wedding to this day… just photos of love and growth. We paid $75 for the certificate… and honestly?? We got married in secret 🤫 Like we didn’t even tell my parents… 🤷🏽‍♀️ They wanted us to wait and do a wedding in a year, and we were being celibate and I was just like — I ain’t got a year in me 🤣🤣🤣 it was so silly! 🙈🙈 we got married at 22 and 23 we were young young! We could have started off on a way better foot financially had we waited, but that’s on me. Chris would have waited. Chris is the chill one, which I know is a big shock to you lol But it all worked out…🙌🏾🙌🏾 and I LOVED those first few years. It’s SO COOL to see how far we’ve come but we had fun back then… watching movies after work on our free Craigslist let out couch 🤣 Chris is such a cool dude, y’all! Like he’s smart — like super super smart — the kind that crushed IQ tests without studying smart. And he’s kind and also just a good person! We’ve had such a beautiful marriage… and I just want to encourage any woman reading this: don’t settle for the cheater, the liar, or the guy that makes you question if you’re his. I’ve always felt SAFE with my husband from our first date on, and girl, when he proposed he sang — and he can SANG SANG!! And play the drums 🥁 Anyways, he’s taking me on a date today so I may ask y’all what to wear!! Say happy anniversary to us! And to my husband — the best decision I’ve made after giving my life to Christ was saying yes to being your wife!! Love you ❤️ P.S. This is why at all our events have marriage panels on the last day, because we’re both blessed to have parents that have been married over 35 years, and seeing healthy love in our communities is everything. Happy Anniversary!
This Morning in Prayer, God Checked Me.
I was reading through the Ten Commandments—just spending time with the Lord—and one line stopped me in my tracks: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:17 It hit different today. Because as I read that, God showed me something so many entrepreneurs (myself included) struggle with… We would be happier, more fulfilled, and further along if we just kept our eyes on our own paper. Back Then: The Israelites Were Free—But Still Looking Sideways God had just delivered them from Egypt with miracle after miracle. They saw plagues fall, seas split, and manna fall from heaven. And still… they wanted what others had: - A king, like other nations (1 Samuel 8:5) - Idols, like Egypt’s gods (Exodus 32) - Control, even if it meant returning to slavery (Numbers 14:4) Their desires weren’t pure. They were shaped by what they saw around them—not what God spoke to them. That Made Me Think About Us—Entrepreneurs. How many of us are chasing things not because we want them—but because we see them? - That launch style… - That income goal… - That offer or funnel… One of the first successful businesses that I started was my law firm, Mobile General Counsel. Initially, we sold trademarks for $2,000 because that’s what I saw every other lawyer doing and it looked like they were successful. I had no clue whether they were making money or not. I had no clue whether they were happy or not. And I had no clue what their profit margins were. But it looked good on Instagram, so I did it—and my profits suffered. It wasn’t until I started realizing that what made me unique was all of the experiences that God allowed me to have. This realization allowed me to show up in my authenticity. What makes you different isn’t what you sell. It’s the experiences that you bring to what you sell. It’s your ability to know who you are, and more importantly, whose you are.
