Omnism
I took World Religions in Middle School | High School and believe a bit of truth in all religions. I'm mostly in omnism in belief. John 14:2 [NKJV] - "In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." To me this means many paths to Heaven besides Christianity. I know most people tend to point to the line John 14:6 NKJV "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." immediately after. While yes this seems somewhat to the point and cut and dry my experience in near death events & seeing what I have in my visions is space for really all religions up in Heaven with "many mansions" of theology and beliefs having space there. What are all y'all's thoughts on this? https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.14.6.NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.14.2.NKJV

Oh ok! I think I get it… omnism is seeing truth wherever it is (in Christianity or other religions) and acknowledging that that truth will be in heaven? I agree:) as far as how to get to heaven, can you clear something up for me? Why would there need to be many ways? And why would Jesus speak truth about what’s in heaven (assuming he knows what it’s like) but lie about how to get there?

I just realized you said that you took world religion in high school How cool! I wish that would’ve been offered to me! I homeschool my girls who are now in high school so I’m gonna have to look into that!
Next Week's Topic
Alright everyone, it's been decided! Moving forward we will be choosing a "topic character" for each week's Objection Handling meetings on Tuesdays. I believe this will be beneficial in a few ways. For one, it will keep it a little more structured, but more importantly, it will give us a reason and a timeframe to look into other belief systems. Last meeting, someone asked the question if we should be looking at other religions and ideologies, or if we should stay strictly in the Bible at all times. It is my personal belief, and this is simply my opinion, that we should understand all belief systems to some extent. Now, there is a difference between understanding and deeply studying. I think if we are to meet people at their level to share our faith, it is important to understand where they are coming from, as long as while we study, we keep in mind the ultimate truth and look from an outside objective perspective. "Know thy enemy" is a common quote for a reason. On that note though..... it is important to remember that these people are NOT our enemies. In any way. They are simply people who have yet to accept the truth. That does not make them bad, or evil, or anything else, it simply makes them people who need to be reached. Someone brought up a good point after this last session, we need to be careful about making assumptions about people. I had made a comment to the effect of "these people who are not Christians". It is not my place, or anyone else's other than God himself, to judge if anyone is saved. We should be coming at these conversations from a place of honest interest in understanding where people are coming from and helping them to see our point of view, not from a place of adversity. So all that being said, let's decide what we will be doing for next week, so that people can have a chance to look into that particular ideology. Be prepared enough to play the role of that particular person in Objection Handling practice and in doing so, you will also learn to overcome their objections to the truth (remember, no one is forced to participate in the meeting, you are welcome to just watch, but this is still a great opportunity to look into and learn about other perspectives either way).

@Connie Jette what do you think is the biggest or most pressing reason for someone to have to make a definite decision?

@Connie Jette oh ya! So could we say as we live each day, whether we are “ready or not” or even “ Admit it or not” we are making a definite decision? Because we don’t know when we’ll breath our last breath (so our belief at any moment determines our ever after) and every choice we make as we live proves the decision we’ve made (decidedly or by default)?

Can we choose the “theme character” for next week now so we can do some research or if we have a friend in that faith even ask them what they believe before we “spar”?
First Spar
What a Fun discussion! You all gave me a LOT to think about! Main takeaways for me: I need this encouragement and equipping to walk and talk boldly for Jesus! Understanding and Remembering that unbelievers are unknowingly in legion with demonic forces helps to not feel attacked by the person PLUS knowing ultimately Jesus WINS strengthens me. Be a good listener and encourage them to share with “tell me more about that”. Know enough about their side to find common ground. Helping someone see the truth often means letting them come to it on their own when they ponder leading questions, encouraging questions. And I have more notes but realized not everyone may want to read them🤣 Thank everybody! “See” ya next time!
