After a bit of research, and because it seems to be the GUI that is slow itself (clicking around etc) rather than the running of the queries, would anyone recommend a different GUI to use?

Yeh it just did not work for me weirdly! I have installed DBeaver and will see how I get on. I have experience with MySQL Workbench but just wanted to try postgres and a different software (and just generally practice!!) Thanks!
