Welcome
Welcome to Behind the Scanner. I’m glad you’re here. I spent my career answering 911 calls and dispatching officers to emergencies. Now I listen to the scanner from the other side—and I realized how confusing radio traffic can sound if you don’t know the system behind it. This group is about: ✅ Learning how dispatch really works ✅ Breaking down scanner traffic in plain language ✅ Understanding the “why” behind radio decisions What this group is NOT: ❌ Not live incident tracking ❌ Not doxxing or tactical advice ❌ Not glorifying emergencies 👉 Start by commenting below: - How long you’ve been listening to scanners - What confuses you the most when you listen That’ll help me tailor content directly to you.

About
This community is for people who want to understand police, fire, and EMS radio traffic the way dispatchers do. I’m a former 911 dispatcher. I answered emergency calls and dispatched officers to real incidents—not TV versions, not YouTube speculation. After leaving the job, I kept listening to scanners as a hobby, and I realized most people hear the radio but don’t actually understand what’s happening. This Skool exists to change that. Inside, you’ll learn: - What dispatcher language really means - Why certain calls escalate fast - What officers are signaling without saying it - How priorities are decided - Why silence, tone changes, or short phrases matter This is education and interpretation, not live dispatching, not vigilantism, and not sensitive information. Everything here is about learning, awareness, and understanding how emergency response works behind the scenes. If you’ve ever thought: - “That sounded serious… but why?” - “Why did they respond like that?” - “What does that phrase actually mean?” You’re in the right place.
