Weekly Motivation 006 🔥
Week 6: Interrupting the Automatic Reaction A Mental Note to Carry “The moment between stimulus and response is where change begins.” Reflection Prompt When tension rises, what usually happens first inside you: defensiveness, urgency, silence, frustration? What would it look like to slow that moment down? 3 Ways to Support Yourself This Week 1. Notice the physical signals that tell you you’re getting activated. 2. Give yourself permission to pause before responding. 3. Remember that slowing the moment often changes the direction of the conversation.

I talk to my therapist about this regularly. It seems that normal people have space between stimulus and reaction. That space is something I've fought for most of my adult life - my reaction usually starts before the stimulus is even finished. Taking a deep breath, walking away, all of the conventional wisdom is great (and it works!). What I sometimes still struggle with is the speed of the reaction and forcing the "space" to do those things.
The Light Confession 🤫
Don't worry, this is low stakes only. What’s one harmless thing that irrationally irritates you? (Think loud typing, people who say “per my last email,” group chats that never end.) We promise not to psychoanalyze this one 🤭 Bonus points if you're able to pinpoint why you find it so annoying lol

This depends entirely on the moon (lol). The one I can't make sense of is the sound of people putting things away in the kitchen. The clanging of dishes and silverware always feels loud and aggressive, and it makes me anxious.
Happy Friday 😃
The Micro-Joy Break 🌱 Midweek reset. What’s one small thing that helped you reset this week? Coffee. A walk. Music. Silence. A laugh. Screaming into a pillow. Journaling. Calling a friend. Name it so someone else can borrow the idea.
Happy Friday 😃

Returning to a specific workout type that I love but haven't done in over a year. (Peloton Walk + Run on the Tread).

Midweek Energy Audit ⚡
Quick scan: What interaction this week gave you energy? What interaction quietly drained it? Not to judge—just to notice.

Energy booster: working on content for my consulting practice. Energy drain: interviewing for a full time job. One does not need a PhD in psychology to understand what is happening here. lol.
