ROAST MY ABOUT PAGE BEFORE I GO PAID
I am bout to switch my community to a paid membership. I am curious to see what you all think about my About Page since that will be the only visibility into the community without paying for membership. Should i add a short video demo or do a talking one. Open to all thoughts and suggestions. https://www.skool.com/flip-florida-lien-investing-5588/about

@Dave Hughes thank you for sharing this! I see that you have a video up now, a community walkthrough... do you find that it helps having this kind of video instead of an actual VSL? I think I'll run an experiment now and see what converts better, with or without vsl👀

@Dave Hughes I've been away from skool for a little while so I didn't have much activity, but now I am back and I am restructuring a bit my community as well.. so for now I am not showing up in the first pages. But soon (in about 2 weeks) I'll start focusing on bringing members and getting the community back up.
What activities are you giving to people in your community?
A common roast I give here is a very frequent mistake for people and that I also made when I joined skool. They focus too much on what they are providing inside and not enough on what the members will be doing. If you're focusing on what you're providing, if you're centering your skool on you and your content, you're not building a community. You're just using skool as a funnel to sell your infoproducts and services. And that's not wrong, it's just underusing the potential of this platform. So how are you giving incentives for people to engage inside your space? Here are some ways you can do it: - Competitions, challenges, gamification - Support - Shoutouts - Exposure opportunities - Accountability - Regular live events (where people do more than just listen to you) - Feedback (the whole premisse of this community) I always take those points into consideration when I'm sharing a community idea. Those are some of the things that makes the community feel less like a funnel where people can just consume and ditch and more like an exciting place where people can keep coming back to.

@Paulo Costa, The Roaster ah no, I was thinking only about what we can do to engage people in the community, and not as something that we can speak about it👀 And I agree with you, I don't like it either when I am tagged with other members just to get notified... there's a community that's been doing that for the past 3 days, and if it's not stopping then I'll do the same as you did For tagging, I am thinking decent and meaningful tagging, like you also do in here when you tag people who might be able to help.

@Kitoko Ehl depends on the post. If it's something that applies to specific members, then it help to know them a bit more than just their name, and yes here the community size matters as well. Some posts can be like "check in" or "hey what's going on" type of thing and you can tag those members who've not been active for a while. There's no tool for this, it just depends on the purpose of that post

First Community So Go Easy on Me (Maybe Just Singe My Eyebrows)
I started a Music Journalism Skool. I haven't put all the classroom material together just yet, but I'm looking for help in terms of my offers. If anyone is interested in joining just for curiosity's sake, there's a free option, and we can start the community that way. Here's the link. Release the flames!

I agree with what others mentioned above, but I'd like to add a few things: 1. Make your community private, because at the minute anyone can see what is inside and even use any materials that you have available, without joining your community. 2. The link for your plans will not work for those who are not members of your community, so if you still want to make those options visible, maybe create another external page or simply a google doc. 3. You're telling your story, which is great, but tell people what they will get in your community as well 4. I know that there are so many points that you need to touch on in your about page copy and only 1000 characters... so for that it would be so good if you could create a VSL and include images from your interviews as well, and your published interviews
