Welcome to The Career Club. I'm Marcus and I've worked at a senior level in big corporates for the past 15+ years. I got to a stage in my career where if I were to take a step up it would mean less time with my kids. So rather than make that sacrifice, I decided my time would be better spent helping other people advance in their careers instead. That's what Career Club is all about. I want to help you land jobs and advance your career. So if you're reading this - welcome. And make sure you take full advantage, there's no stupid questions. First things first: Introduce yourself in the comments, tell us your name, what you do for a living and what you'd like to get out of joining this community. I can't wait to get to know you.

Hi everyone. This is Alex. I’m an electronics engineer. Bit more than 10 years of experience. I never paid too much attention on actually building my career path and well, I’m in a valley right now. Located in Monterrey, Mexico. CAREER STATUS: - got a temporal job in a call center (not what I want at all) - actively seeking and applying for engineering positions like: electronic design, PCB design, product engineer, systems engineer (not computational, but engineering systems), and some other like report analyst and design release engineer. - frustrated, low professsional selfsteam and frequent impostor syndrome CONTEXT: I was fired back on april (this year) and was lawfully paid the severance. It was a “downsizing” they said. I was there for 4 years from which the last 3 were the worst experience in my professional career. A huge step back, a lot of gaslighting management and low challenge activities. After been fired, I went to my natal city took care of mom 2 months (aprox) alternating my current living location and home at mom’s. Then came back to Monterrey and spend like another 2 months or so doing personal stuff (assembling my car engine, girlfriend, a trip, etc) but nothing for my career. On september I actually started applying and building an structure and method for my job seeking. Made my resume from scratch, read a lot (a lot) on how resume should be done now a days. Found a template I liked in enhancv.com I basically copied it into MS Word and skip inventing time on doing a design from scratch. Then, I have branched many versions of my resume to customize it for each vacancy depending on the area. I have applied to many vacants but only one have actually went into interviews. This only one elapsed for 2 months or so (since late august to early november) at the end they suddenly canceled the 5th interview without further notice or feedback and proceed to ghost me. WHAT DO I EXPECT FROM THIS COMMUNITY? Find the inspiration and knowledge to leverage my applications, my resume and my job seeking strategy to land a job soon.
