One line each. What did you take off your plate this week? Could be a message you wrote once so you never write it again. A number you finally put in your phone. A thing you told your cleaner so you stop checking it yourself. It does not have to be impressive. It has to be off your plate. Mine: Not exactly a system, but we had a complaint this summer about a small in the small room. I have not posted for the last two days because we went on an archeological find. We found the source of the smell, after removing the floor and the subfloor. We still have some work tomorrow before putting the floor back. As much as systems are important, good bones is also important. The room is at its bare bones, this is a 1960 house, we will address mold tomorrow, then move on to the floors.

Genuine question, and I ask because the answer changes how you host more than most people admit. Some of you are ten minutes away and can be there before the guest finishes typing the message. Some of you are three hours away, or in another province, or hosting a place you have not physically stood in since spring. Neither is better. But they need completely different systems, and most hosting advice is written as though everyone is ten minutes away. Today's blog is about why remote hosting feels chaotic, and it is not because you are disorganised. It is because being nearby was quietly doing the work a system should have been doing. So: how far away are you, and what do you do differently because of it?

I've been in real estate investing for almost 10 years now and I'm mainly here to learn from people actually doing this day to day. I don't have an STR live yet, still in the planning stage for a property, so my biggest challenge right now is figuring out how to systemize guest communication and turnovers before I ever list.
