Any Python (Flask) Developers Interested in Open Source Reselling Tools?
I’ve begun developing an open source Python/Flask project with the ambitious goal of building a centralised hub for reselling—automating as many tedious tasks as possible. The long-term vision includes features like cross-listing to multiple marketplaces, streamlined inventory management, and maybe even AI integration. To be upfront: the project is in its early days and currently doesn’t offer much in the way of working features. But if you’re a Python (and/or Flask) developer interested in contributing to something with potential, I’d love your input, feedback, or collaboration. Ultimately my first aim is to get it to be able to catalogue items, and automatically list these catalogued items to eBay via their API. I would then hope to build out automations, features, and refinements from that point. The GitHub repository is here:https://github.com/an1uk/an1uk Feel free to take a look, open issues, or suggest ideas!

What are Selvage (Selvedge) Jeans?
Selvage jeans (also spelled selvedge) are a type of denim distinguished by the way the fabric is woven. The term “selvage” comes from “self-edge,” which refers to the tightly woven band on the edge of the denim fabric that prevents it from unraveling or fraying. Key Features of Selvage Jeans: 1. Woven on Traditional Shuttle Looms: Selvage denim is made on old-style shuttle looms that produce a narrower fabric (usually around 30 inches wide) with clean, finished edges. These looms are slower and more labor-intensive, contributing to the higher cost of selvage denim. 2. Clean, Finished Edges: The edge (or “self-edge”) is often visible on the outseam when the jeans are cuffed. The selvage edge often has a colored thread—commonly red, but it varies by manufacturer. 3. Higher Quality Fabric: Selvage denim is usually denser, heavier, and more durable than regular denim. It’s often considered premium and associated with artisanal or heritage denim brands. 4. Raw or Unwashed: Many selvage jeans are also raw denim, meaning they haven’t been pre-washed or distressed. This allows the jeans to develop unique fades and wear patterns based on the wearer’s habits. 5. Often Made in Japan or the USA: Japan is known for producing some of the world’s best selvage denim, with brands like Iron Heart, Samurai, and Pure Blue Japan. Why People Love Selvage Denim: - Durability: Long-lasting and holds up over time. - Aesthetics: Clean look when cuffed, with the selvage edge visible. - Personalization: Raw selvage denim molds to the wearer, creating custom fades and whiskers. - Craftsmanship: Associated with traditional techniques and quality materials. If you run across this type of fabric you can feel the difference. Also, these jeans will bring a premium.

It's worth noting that there are fake selvedge jeans around, that have a selvedge effect stitched on top. They typically only do this just enough that a turn up would show it. See attached picture for a pretty terrible example of this.. On real selvedge jeans, 99% of the time the top of the inside of the small pocket will have a selvedge seam. I've found that thrift stores usually don't know the difference and have a single price for everything that's Levis - so if you find the selvedge variety they're often worth getting.

The only variation of Ralph Lauren labels I'm aware of along these lines is a gold dot, which means the item was made for outlet.
This is the pits.
I went to Goodwill this morning went through all the Mens clothes and found absolutely nothing. I couldn't even find anything that was overpriced. 0 Notta. Nothing. Very depressing.

@Beau Johnson I've heard of some people buying from consignment stores to resell, particularly high end luxury goods. I figure that doing that your knowledge needs to be pretty extensive to know exactly where money can be made - and you need to be prepared to pay the high initial costs upfront.
Hang tags on used clothing?
Has anyone tried adding hang tags to used clothing? They could potentially boost brand identity and perceived quality, while encouraging customers to leave feedback and follow the store. Moreover, they could reduce returns from those seeking a free clothes hire service by requiring returns with tags attached, as many retail stores do. Tagging guns are inexpensive on Amazon, and custom tags aren't particularly costly either.

@Wes Benham I'm not really sure what to put on the tags. This is a draft I put together, with the other side basically being the shop name, logo, and a QR code which links to the ebay store. I think perhaps the weakest point is the environmental one (particularly when presented on a throw away piece of paper attached with a plastic tag). I'm hoping the calls to action in the second and third points encourage buyers to leave positive feedback, and to get in touch rather than rush to leave negative or neutral feedback to give me a chance to put things right.
