Been sick. Half way through (50%) the kodekloud CKA course. Took a break to finish several boot.dev courses in GIT and python. Working on asteroids now https://github.com/aletienne/asteroids
What’s the best move you’ve made in your tech career so far?
Let me hear your story. Maybe it was learning Linux? Maybe it was switching jobs? contributing to open source? or sending a DM that led to a good opportunity? For me? At the end of my first DevOps internship, I quit. They offered me a junior role but the pay wasn’t even close to market value. I almost said yes. Just to play it safe. But someone gave me advice: Don’t settle out of fear. I looked elsewhere, and I’m glad I did. This laid the foundation for me to start freelancing later. What about you? Lets hear it.

I read the O'Reilly book on NFS/NIS the night before my first job interview while still in college. https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/managing-nfs-and/1565925106/ This and the fact that I had just recently finished learning DNS landed me my first job. https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/dns-and-bind/0596100574/
Certifications: Worth the time and money?
With so many DevOps-related certifications available (AWS, Azure, K8s, etc.), which ones have actually provided value in your career? Which felt like a waste of resources? Which are on your radar but you're hesitant about? Let's cut through the marketing and talk real ROI on certifications!

Not directly related to the question at hand, but.... CCNP and JNCP were worth the time. CCIE would have been well worth doing if I were in a different life situation or time in my career. The harder ones are difficult to find the motivation for doing if you are not going to get paid more immediately; at least for me. I passed the written but never put in the time to pass the practical as I was in management at the time so focus was elsewhere. I regret not seeing that to completion. Early on MCSE, CEH and CISSP were very valuable because the company I was working for wanted them and rewarded me for getting them. I got all of the Solaris certifications and the only ROI was internal, but still worth doing in my opinion. Same thing with RHCSA and RHCE; company wanted them, not sure what value it brought me in the market. Several other vendor certs are worth while if your company wants them. Will get you from meets to exceeds expectations in a yearly review. Most of these things expire and are a pain in the ass to keep current unless you are actively working with them day to day. I can't think of any certs that I regret getting or felt were not worth my time.
