Can Review Language Affect Marketplace Transfers?
Just received a review on a marketplace that isn’t my main one. The same thing happened to me in the past, and because the review was a Verified Purchase, it was eventually transferred to the marketplace that mattered to me, so the review wasn’t actually lost. However, I've noticed that when a review is posted in a different marketplace and in a different language, it doesn't seem to transfer, even when it's a Verified Purchase. Has anyone experienced this? Could it be because the review was written in the local language rather than English? Would writing the review in English increase the chances of it being transferred to other marketplaces? Also, is there any way BookVillage could suggest this to reviewers? For example, recommending that reviews be written in English when possible, if that increases the likelihood of the review appearing across multiple Amazon marketplaces?

@Adriano Ferrigno I respectfully disagree. If I buy a book in English and want to review it, on whichever marketplace, means I understand English and want to communicate my opinion to other English speakers who may want to buy that book. I’ve been reviewing books on amazon.es, but I only buy books in English and French and write my reviews in these 2 languages. They always get published, never had any issues after >100 of them done. I don’t speak Spanish well enough to read books and it would never cross my mind to write a review in Spanish or get it translated, I just don’t see the point 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, taking into account that my reviews transfer to other marketplaces they would be completely useless there if written in Spanish, other than add to the overall rating.

@Adriano Ferrigno I believe the guideline mentions that the reviews should be in the “primary languages of the storefront” so in most cases this includes English. Indeed I would stay away from any exotic languages, but I would still hope my books in English get their reviews written in English, especially when it’s the first review or one of the first.

Just a curious author figuring out KDP one experiment (and occasional facepalm) at a time. Learning by trial, error, and too many cups of coffee.
