Before the Next Chapter Begins
As the year comes to a close, I’m noticing how much can shift in 12 months — not always loudly, not always visibly, but deeply. This year wasn’t about having everything figured out. It was about listening more closely, letting go of what no longer fits, and slowly moving toward what feels more true. Some days were clear. Some were confusing. All of them taught me something. Before we rush into the next year, I’m pausing here for a moment. Reflection question for you: 👉 What did this year quietly teach you about yourself that you don’t want to forget in the year ahead? If you feel like sharing, I’d love to read it.
Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄
I finally found enough signal to send this out! We’ve been spending Christmas week deep in my wife’s village where there is absolutely no cell service or internet. It’s been amazing to completely unplug, and I was even able to bring my mum along for the trip. I’m posting a few photos of our time off the grid below. Now that I’m reconnected... what is everyone doing for their Christmas?

Vices holding you back?
Every year I quit drinking alcohol for 6 months. Usually during low season here in Thailand when my friends go home and it's quiet. I'm not a massive drinker. Maybe once a week to socialise. And only beers. But here's what's mad... Every time I quit, my focus goes from like 3-4 hours to 8-10 hours of solid work. Energy is stable all day. No more afternoon crashes. This made me realise... We're always looking for the "secret" to productivity. Better apps. Better systems. Better routines. But we ignore the elephant in the room: The dumb shit we do to ourselves. For me it was alcohol and coffee. (Quitting coffee was honestly harder than quitting smoking) But once you get past the withdrawal... The energy stability is insane. No more highs and crashes. Just consistent focus all day. Look, I'm not saying you need to become a monk. But if you're struggling with low energy, anxiety, can't focus or not making any progress. Maybe look at what you're putting in your body first. Is there something you could do with quitting?

I quit drinking alcohol two years ago, and it’s been a total game changer—my mind is clearer, my focus sharper, and I don’t miss it one bit.

I’m more conscious of what I eat now, aiming to eat as healthy as possible and eliminating processed foods and other unhealthy options.

If you could instantly master any skill, mastering the art of being fully present in the moment would be one of the most transformative. It means no longer dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, but instead experiencing life as it unfolds—clearly, calmly, and without distraction. This skill brings more peace to daily life, strengthens relationships, sharpens focus, and deepens joy in even the simplest moments. In a world that constantly pulls attention away, presence becomes a quiet superpower.

I recently listened to a YouTube talk on Shaolin philosophy that really stuck with me. What hit home was their take on discipline—choosing between what you want now and what you want most. It helped me refocus on small daily actions and inner strength. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in mindset, focus, and personal growth.
