Beginner ski touring
I came to skiing late and never got past red runs.Since having a new hip 2 years ago, I discovered last Winter that reduced mobility in that hip made me unable to snow plough on that side. I thought that I may be able to resolve it by exercise but have been advised that this could dislocate my hip. I used to run mountain marathons so skiing uphill seems a good way to stay out in the snow and I understand that this is becoming more popular. Is Tignes a suitable resort for beginners, with the possibility of getting a lift down or easy slopes Sorry it’s a bit long winded

Thank you I spoke to a hip surgeon while I was away in the winter and then a physio when I got home. Both said that there were no exercises to increase the mobility needed because a lot of supportive tissue is cut and that pushing it could lead to dislocation. Very disappointing. My son did a couple of days touring around Kleine Schiedegg with a mountain guide at the same time and it was him who advised to give uphill a go. Going up to KS from Wengen or Grindelwald look appealing and the cable cars around that area. Don’t work round there do you? 😁
