I will try this out, thanks for sharing. Plus, you provide a well-detailed write-up. Can this be installed safely directly on macOS for testing?

@Stephen Chr This was a long read but definitely worth it β€” a lot of gems in there πŸ‘πŸ½.I really like how you broke down the distinction between Linux as the kernel vs the desktop environment β€” that clarity alone helps many new people avoid confusion. Your experience resonates a lot. I also bounce between macOS and Linux daily. Right now, I’m running macOS as my base system and spinning up Linux VMs that I manage fully from the Mac terminal. I keep everything headless and use SSH + automation scripts to bring the VMs up, connect, and shut them down cleanly. It’s been a great setup to stay hands-on without needing to dual-boot or dedicate hardware. Like you said β€” once you really get comfortable understanding that the UI is just the interface and the OS experience can be shaped however we like, the workflow becomes way more flexible. I’m also in that phase of going deeper into Linux tooling, especially with more DevOps workflows β€” containers, automation, config mgmt, etc. Posts like this keep me pushing further. Appreciate you sharing
