New Year's Rites: What Do You Do?
Hello Friends, We are near the secular New Year and I know we all have some sort of rituals we do to prepare us for the beginning of a new calendrical year. Some of us pull Tarot cards, some clear clutter, some make Resolutions, and some just try to be extra kind. For me, I do something that not many other people mention, and I think it is a wonderful practice, and can help us achieve a greater understanding of Tarot. Tarot is an ancient oracular system, and messages from the Unseen are vital in our spiritual growth. When we are guided by the Gude Neighbors (by whatever names we call Them), we can be enlightened on possible pitfalls. What I do is actually very simple, and I would like to share it with you. I do a little bit of Numerology. First, take your birthday and the year we are entering. In my case this would be November 6 2026. Then, transmute it all into numbers. 11 06 2026 Now, take each numeral and add them together. 1+1+6+2+0+2+6= 18. Then, pull the 18th Major Arcana. That is MY Personal Tarot Card of the Year. This just happens to be The Moon. The Moon card can show us a variety of things. Its interpretation tends to show the following: Upright: Illusion, anxiety, subconscious fears, intuition, hidden truths, deception, the shadow self, instinctual urges. Reversed: Release of fear, repressed emotion, inner confusion, moving past illusions. It is associated with the Astrological Sign of PISCES and is thus a Water card (I am a Scorpio), and deals with keeping the balance between thus things as deception and truth, severity and mercy, and feral and calm mind sets. It is easy for the anxiety and fear to gain a foothold and allow us to lose perspective. So, my goal in this year is to maintain a sense of detachment from results, to be mindful of a balance of Heart and Head, and to be extra discerning when it comes to my dreams and potential relationships (whether business, platonic, or romantic). What is YOUR Personal Tarot Card of the Year? Leave it in the comments.
