Groin strengthening but fatigue plus pain
Hi there, I've been on the si rehab protocol for about 6 months now and I'm definitely a long hauler rehab patient as I've gotten better but not 100 percent. I'd say about 70 percent and I'm up to 35lbs and angle weights for adductor strengthening. But I'm having challenges now where my adductors are starting to ache from what I'd guess are muscle knots. What do you do in this situation? So far rolling them out on a foam roller does help but should I also reduce the reps from 30 to 10 as I increase the weights? Looking for suggestions here as I've been dealing with this for a long time now. Thanks!

@Ryan Whelton hey Ryan! Thanks the reply! I had two appointments with you over video. I want to reframe my initial post. I followed the si rehab protocol that was discussed on our video call and also increased the adductor strengthening to 4x a day after 4 weeks. However I've hit a snag and can't get any better it seems. What I was referring to is right now, I have 15lbs max on the ankle weight below the knee because anything more will cause my knee to get irritated. I was then able to get up to an additional 25lbs above the knee but my groin would start to ache after doing so many reps throughout the day. I have to dial it back with how many reps I can do and foam roll out my adductors consistently because they are starting to ache with overuse because I'm doing so many reps (30reps x 3 sets + 2x a day). My question is since I can still increase the weight as it feels easy at 40lbs still but can't complete 30 reps due to what feels like an over use issue which is causing muscle knots in my adductors what should I do now? Increase weights but reduce reps? Take a break from the exercises and let my adductors muscles have a break? I also noted that doing squats or other movements that require my glutes my groin muscles will take over and then cause pain while doing a simple exercise like body weight squats. Interesting note is when I strengthen my glute max it seems to turn off my groin muscles as if I have a muscle imbalance now because my groin muscles are too strong and hyperactive. Any help with be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙏
