Tutorial: Beginner Cabochon Pendant
I recently mentioned that I had posted a surprise tutorial in the Premium Pendants section, did you guys find it? It’s a beginner’s tutorial for setting a cabochon in a simple wire frame! I’m using an 18x25mm cabochon with 22g (0.6mm) and 28g (0.315mm) wire. This concept can also be used on different size/shape cabochons too, but you’ll need to make adjustments to make sure it fits the circumference of your stone. Have fun and let me know here if you have any questions!

New Video! Square Wire vs Round Wire

@Tracy Bryan Thank you so much Tracy! You actually inspired me to create this video after I saw your post/comment about working with square wire for the first time. I’m hoping to get some designs ready for tutorials in the near future 😎

Next tutorial idea..
I really want to do some designs where you guys can practice weavingβ€”what do you think of this earring design? Hopefully I can practice and get it filmed this week. I’ve been dealing with some intense anxiety over the past week as my body still adjusts to life postpartum and post-nursingβ€”what a roller coaster it’s been πŸ˜… but this community has helped a lot and seeing everyone interacting has made me so happy ☺️ thank you guys for being here! πŸ’–

Hi Angela! I’m so excited you’re getting to your shopping list ready! If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the β€œGet started wire wrapping β€”> let’s talk tools and materials” section in the classroom. When you’re just getting started and don’t want to invest a fortune, I recommend starting with 20g copper wire and 28g copper wire, a set of jewelry pliers (at least round nose and chain nose) and wire cutters. Grab a variety pack of cute beads while you’re at it and you’re set for your first few projects! If you’re in the USA, you can usually find these items at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, or if you prefer online, I have an Amazon list available on my LinkTree here: https://tr.ee/F26fdX

@Angela Grube That's one of the reason I love wire wrapping, you don't need much to get started!πŸ₯³ I've honestly never used a heavy duty wire straightener but if the wires are heavily creased/bent, it may be more efficient than nylon jaw pliers, especially if you're working with longer lengths. Make sure you're working with scrap copper wire though! Stainless steel is a common household wire that a lot of people are tempted to work with because it's lying around, but it's so painfully hard to work with in the beginning, and when you straighten the wire, you'll be "work hardening" the metal which means you'll be making it even harder to work with. With copper this shouldn't be too big of a deal because copper is typically soft by nature and a few runs through a straightener shouldn't make it too hard to work with. If so, hold it over some fire for a bit and it will soften it back up
How to Access the Tutorials and Upgrade Your Membership Plan
I've been getting a few questions on how to access the locked tutorials so I made a quick screenshot guide and later this week I'll try and film a guided video tour. Here's a step by step guide: 1. Click the Classroom tab at the top of your screen 2. You will see the available Free courses and the Locked courses. The Tutorial Index will show you photos of what's inside the courses. (This may not be up to date with every single lesson but I try ☺️) 3. Click on a locked course and click Unlock to access the membership pricing page 4. You will see monthly prices and when you click "Join" you will see the corresponding Annual Prices. Monthly plans can be changed back to the Free plan at anytime by going to Settings 5. To manage your membership, go to Settings (this is available in the app by clicking the ... at the top righthand corner of your screen) As always, you can message me if you have any questions!
