Peace LYMG family! Like the title of the song by The Notorious B.I.G., I got a story to tell. Yesterday we took a base hit trade (sell) on MNQ soon after the options market opened.The trade ended in profit on my combine and all was well. A couple of hours later, a possible slingshot opportunity had formed. The slingshot level was mentioned in the VIP chat and we were all clear on what to do if that level was crossed. While waiting for the scenario to play out, I began entertaining my 16 month old daughter and in the middle of daddy/daughter time, I noticed that the Bears were approaching the 24347 slingshot level. I took the trade after price crossed that level and put in 3 contracts at full risk. I began to notice a lot of back and forth but attributed it to market manipulation. Then out of nowhere, the price began rising higher and higher. I cancelled my contracts and lost $200. Price came back down to the slingshot level and I entered again. I DM’d Kirk to figure out why and as he was responding, I checked the chat and noticed that the slingshot level was actually 24327. I was down nearly another $500 and could not believe I had made such a blunder. Kirk advised that it may turn in my favor and to put my phone down and let things play out. I punished myself by watching this blunder play out for nearly two hours until my phone died. I put my phone on the charger and began to clean my house. About 90 minutes later, I decided to check on the situation and I was in profit. I did not allow the trade to go any further because I should not have been there in the first place and I had recouped everything I had previously lost. The trade would have wiped out all profits made in my combine but God showed me grace. Not only through the reversal going in my favor, but also by providing the guidance through Kirk to let the trade continue. The biggest lessons regarding our principles were centered around my lack of focus and lack of communication. My combine is still on pace and both lessons will be applied everyday moving forward.
