@Tom Brooks I just repeated myself over in ubs, 😂
Is your coaching "gut instinct" lying to you?
The longer you coach people... The more your brain starts creating shortcuts. You notice patterns. You develop "gut feelings" about what clients are REALLY saying. And your cognitive bias kicks in… Which can be dangerous… Because once you've coached enough people, these biases become almost automatic. You start fitting clients into boxes before they've even finished speaking. Now... sometimes these instincts are spot on. After all, pattern recognition is a powerful skill. But the true art is in how you USE these observations. Most coaches completely butcher this. They either ignore their instincts entirely... Or they blast clients with judgmental observations. Both approaches destroy trust. The real skill is bringing up what you notice WITHOUT making the client defensive. It's about radical candor WITH humility. "I might be wrong about this..." "This is just the sense I'm getting..." "I'm completely open to being corrected..." Notice how different that feels? You're not attacking them. You're not pretending to be all-knowing. You're sharing what you notice while staying open. This creates space for honesty. For breakthrough. For transformation. Because when you frame it this way, clients feel safe enough to explore what's really going on. To face the truth they've been hiding from. To finally make the changes they need to make. Most importantly... It keeps YOU from getting stuck in your own cognitive bias. Because the moment you think you've "seen it all before"... Is the moment you stop being truly present with your clients. And that's when the magic of coaching dies. So… Stay curious… And watch what happens :-)

This is such a great reminder. Thanks for giving us the language to let our clients know they are safe with us and we are merely making points to help them see what is true for them and not just a story. 😊🎶♥️

I wasn't gonna share this-- Let me just clarify something, first: I DID NOT USE & THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH USE🙅‍♂️🚫 _ But yes—I am going through a trying situation. And here’s WHY I’m sharing this today... So often, when life squeezes us, the world assumes we’ll fall back into old cycles—addiction, anger, silence, self-destruction. HEALING, however, has taught me this: Detachment isn’t about numbing or running away. Detachment is about standing firm in the storm, refusing to let external chaos dictate internal collapse. _ 👉 Day 15 of the Detachment Practice reminds us: you can observe your triggers without becoming them. For me, that includes triggers tied to my past, including some that most men never speak about: sexual exploitation and trauma. It’s uncomfortable. It’s heavy. But it’s real. And if I don’t voice it, it stays buried. Too many brothers carry wounds in silence. We’re told to “man up.” We’re told our pain doesn’t matter. We’re told that admitting we were violated somehow makes us “less of a man.” _ Here’s the truth: There’s nothing stronger than a man who can look his pain in the face and still choose life, healing, and growth. And I share this because I believe we need MORE spaces where men can acknowledge their trauma without shame. 🛡️Where we can reclaim our power, detach from the lies that we’re broken beyond repair, and anchor into the truth that our scars are proof of survival—not evidence of weakness. Today’s practice isn’t just about letting go of toxic attachments. It’s about calling back your power. It’s about remembering that you are not what happened to you—you are who you decide to become in response to it. So if you’re reading this and you’ve been holding onto something unspeakable, brother— know this: You’re not alone. Your story still matters. And your healing is possible. 🕊️ Detachment isn’t escape. It’s empowerment. It’s freedom.

Thank you for sharing and I’m so sorry to hear of your suffering. This is so important and I agree that men are so often simply told to “deal with it”, without being given the chance (or the tools) to feel and process, and come out on the other side, safe and whole, and strong. What you are saying is a whole movement towards positive masculinity and I believe the world will be better for this kind of work. It’s starts with us, right?
