Canine conditioning challenge
Hi all, it's still Sunday here in the UK , but I think some of you are waking up already to Monday and I want you to be able to start the challenge as soon as you want to dive in.... I'm a certified canine conditioning coach here in the UK, I've qualified from The Canine Conditioning Academy which is a level 4 diploma. We are looking at one of the exercises from my foundation course which is our side steps. It's a great exercise and all you need is some treats and a dog. It works the adductors and abductor in both the hind and fire legs, the glutes, the side abdominals and the iliopsoas, so for such a simple exercise it is quite the work out. If this is new to your dog, reward anything that looks like a sideways movement and build on that. We don't want to push our dogs, but moving towards them into their space can encourage the sideways movement we are after. If you can side steps already, you can take it out and about with you, uneven surfaces, going up and down a slope. I have other options if you find this easy ☺️ Show me what you can do and I'll give you feedback.

If you could choose one skill to have absolutely perfect with your dog every time what would it be?

Of course the perfect poodle does perfect loose leash walking, but wild child Lexie can't always manage it especially if there is a chance of seeing cats or squirrels....

Yes I have tried a few different techniques, but always happy to keep trying. She has declared war on all the cats in the neighborhood though...
Dogs sleeping on our beds
I'm curious about people's views on this. I've always had a dog sleep with me until I had to make a change because my dog Silver used to disrupt my sleep so much it got ridiculous. Lyon has been with me since early May and has been in a crate overnight since then but I've been feeling a bit like I'm doing what I should instead of what I want. I'm going to see if he will settle with me tonight I think....

My dogs have their own bedroom, but that's as much to do with me and my husband not sleeping well and it's harder with fidgeting dogs. On a slow day off they come up for a morning cup of tea and we all laze in bed for a bit. If we are camping they have to sleep with us and Coady is such a good boy but Lexie is a fidget who likes to create space for herself 🀣
Day 9-30 scentwork challenge
I was hoping for more engagement but I also understand life happens. Here is one post for the rest of the days so I don’t spam the group. Feel free to post in comments 😊 I have found huge benefits with daily training and it only takes 3min.

A little search, it was quite breezy so they didn't take the exact line, but still really impressed. Trying to get Lexie to do a search + retrieve
