Plot twist: joy is the advantage.
Most of us were taught a very serious formula: Work hard → succeed → then you get to be happy. But psychology research tells a much more interesting story. When your brain experiences positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and optimism, it releases neurochemicals that actually improve creativity, learning, and problem-solving. Translation? Your brain literally works better when joy is present. Yet most of us treat joy like a prize at the end of the marathon. ā€œI’ll relax when the project is done.ā€ ā€œI’ll celebrate when I hit the goal.ā€ ā€œI’ll enjoy life once things settle down.ā€ And then… the brain moves the goalpost. Again. And again. Joy stays in the future. But when we allow joy during the process, something shifts. Energy increases. Ideas expand. Resilience gets stronger. So here’s your Tuesday experiment: • Write down three things you’re grateful for today • Celebrate one small win before the day ends • Reach out to someone you genuinely enjoy Not because it’s fluffy. Because joy might be the smartest strategy in the room. šŸ‘‡ Joy prompt: What’s one small thing that brought you joy today? Share it below so we can celebrate it with you. ✨

@Rachel Bents Thank you and so far I don't have a favorite book.
Joy first. Then the week.
Most people start their week with pressure. The to-do list. The calendar. The responsibilities waiting on Monday morning. But what if the week didn’t begin with urgency? What if it began with alignment? Before planning, fixing, or pushing forward, take a few minutes today to check in with yourself. • What would make this week feel meaningful? • Where do I want more ease or energy? • What is one small thing that would bring me joy this week? Not a huge life change. Just a small shift in direction. A walk. A conversation. A creative moment. A little more space in the schedule. When joy has a seat at the table early, the whole week tends to unfold differently. šŸ‘‡ Soft Sunday prompt: What is one thing you’re looking forward to this week? Share it below so we can celebrate it with you. ✨

Walking daily at my favorite walking place at night time.
Taking joy on the road this morning.
Today I’m headed to Rochester, MN to talk about joy on live television. And every time I get to do this, I think the same thing: This isn’t about airtime. It’s about connection. Because nurturing connection doesn’t just happen in living rooms and coffee shops. It happens through stories. Through shared ideas. Through someone watching at home and thinking, ā€œMe too.ā€ Connection is powerful. When we feel connected, our nervous systems calm. Our shoulders drop. We soften. We open. Joy flows more easily when we feel seen and connected even through a screen. So today, while I’m out there spreading joy, I’m curious: How are you nurturing connection in your world right now? Is it: • a text you’ve been meaning to send • coffee with a friend • a team meeting you’re leading • showing up fully where you are Joy multiplies in relationship. Let’s build it - together šŸ’›āœØ

Going to my weekly yoga class at my local library this evening.
Take care of your body. It’s carrying you through.
Yesterday was a reminder for me that life can pivot in a second. So today, we come back to something we can control: how we care for ourselves. Wellness isn’t about aesthetics. It’s about capacity. When you sleep enough, when you move your body, when you eat real food, when you breathe deeply… You’re not chasing perfection. You’re building resilience. Science backs this up: Regular movement improves mood through endorphins and dopamine. Stable blood sugar supports emotional regulation. Sleep restores cognitive control and lowers stress hormones. Wellness makes joy more accessible. Not because everything is easy - but because your nervous system is supported. Today’s invitation is simple: Don’t overhaul your life. Just elevate one thing. Drink the water. Take the walk. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier. Stretch while the coffee brews. Small wellness choices create emotional stability. Emotional stability creates room for joy. šŸ’› What is one small wellness choice you can make today that Future You will thank you for?
