Plot twist: joy is the advantage.
Most of us were taught a very serious formula:
Work hard → succeed → then you get to be happy.
But psychology research tells a much more interesting story.
When your brain experiences positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and optimism, it releases neurochemicals that actually improve creativity, learning, and problem-solving.
Translation?
Your brain literally works better when joy is present.
Yet most of us treat joy like a prize at the end of the marathon.
“I’ll relax when the project is done.”
“I’ll celebrate when I hit the goal.”
“I’ll enjoy life once things settle down.”
And then… the brain moves the goalpost. Again. And again.
Joy stays in the future.
But when we allow joy during the process, something shifts.
Energy increases.
Ideas expand.
Resilience gets stronger.
So here’s your Tuesday experiment:
• Write down three things you’re grateful for today
• Celebrate one small win before the day ends
• Reach out to someone you genuinely enjoy
Not because it’s fluffy.
Because joy might be the smartest strategy in the room.
