Thank you for your feedback. Still having issues with drawing long and short axis especially on tilted angles as I keep drawing the angle off and pointing it down automatically flattening and distorting drawing for some reason but it gives me motivation to keep working at it until something clicks and it becomes invisible. Thinking of the long and short crossed axis in 'T' shape is helping prompt me. I left the jaws curved / rounded on purpose this time around as I was focusing solely on rhythm exercise so wasn't sure if the square jaw falls under planes which is this weeks focus along with my project thumbnails, otherwise would have drawn the boxy jaw shapes. I'm really enjoying drawing asian faces especially as it's giving me a different perspective and outlook. It's also helping me study faces of this origin to help build my Magnus character. Since it's out of my comfort zone thought why not challenge myself and combine my studies with project since one of my characters is of this origin. The Asian actor community is on a smaller scale but thriving and building. They even have their own Film Awards. There are also some amazing hidden talented actors, a few how even won big film awards over time. I even found a google list with over 50+ lead asian males alone which is amazing and inspirational.
Weekly Check-In, Nov 18 - Nov 24, 2025
Last week of November. It's officially holiday time for many of us, but don't let that be an excuse to stop drawing. Please post work you want reviewed in by midnight tonight (US Eastern). If you want to help me, organize your work in one post in this thread. Thank you 🙏✍️🎨

This weeks.... Rhythms and Face tilts This week have been working on Rhythms and looking and trying to understand face tilts, nose basic construction shape and centre line placement especially as I seem to keep angling my centre line down out of habit distorting the drawing. First pass was a 5-min timed exercises. Decided to do a 2nd pass to add missed off rhythms and redefine some of shapes especially hair to to start adding al little likeness to construction , keeping soles to rhythms ignoring planes for now. Drawings aren't finished as I'm still working on them, but need a few hours sleep first to recharge before start round 2. It's also crazy Monday (back to back after school kids activities) and I have my son's final P7 school ski trip meeting which school suddenly decided to spring upon us out of blue and made it compulsory to attend so there goes tonight's plans.
Rhythms Exercise Practise (18th Nov)
Update 01: 2nd drawing attempts - lengthened nose, tweaked centreline 'T' and moved features below nose down. Nose might be a little too long in length but it feels better than when it was too short. Lips corner (right side) feel a little over stretched as lip shape feels altered and stretched more than it should, but more happier with this attempt than previous. Think may have gone a little too enthusiastic and over board on the rhythm lines, lesson learned for next time! 😂 ... After going back to tracing lines feel have a better understanding and feel of rhythms now. Overall apart from the nose that needs lengthening, and features after nose will move down once nose is lengthened as at present with short nose everything from nose down is too high. In addition to lengthening nose, few rhythm line angles that are slightly off and the Centreline 'T' need tweaking, but overall happy with this attempt. Tracing the rhythm lines on ref helped prompt me and kept me in check to stay away from planes for this exercise even though temptation was there. Now, just to repeat this exercise with the remainder of traced rhythm line drawing and attempt the time pose.

Weekly Check-in (10-17th Nov)
Have been spending this week figuring out drawing rhythms for square shape faces. For some reason my mindset seemed to be focused on planes.Tried to do rhythms without tracing but ended up confusing myself so decided to go back to tracings and then do the rhythm freehand drawings next using tracings as a guide until they start becoming invisible to me. Centrelines especially for down tilt and up tilts faces were also confusing me as I kept drawing mine at some random angle making the face feel flat every time. I came across a video by Steve Huston on using the LTL method to place centrelines and this has been helping me see them better. First drawing is tracings and 2nd one is one of multiple attempts of drawing rhythms freehand which realise need more practise with. I started off with timed 5-min poses but then ended up strapping it and revisiting unit since I was going well over my time and realised I was drawing planes and not rhythms like the exercise was for. I did have other drawings for the freehand but sort of deleted them as again kept drawing planes and angles instead of flowing curved connected lines, I eventually realised rhythms are the construction part of building head not likeness where planes are which is why I find this exercise troublesome as I was trying to achieve likeness and not the flow and connection. My go to approach has been constructions drawing with planes and with a few rhythm lines drawn to show connections to side plane. Drawing Rhythms without planes is unfamiliar to me so more practise needed. One rhythm line I'm unsure about is the big circle / mussel (?). Not sure where this connects to (if it' is Zygomatic cheekbone or nose bridge) from chin.
