Breakthrough Wednesday: Win or wall?
Happy Wednesday, founders. Midweek. Two options, pick one: 1. A win from this week. Any size. A question answered. A direction chosen. A thing finally named. 2. A wall you're running into. Something you're stuck on. Vague is fine. "I don't know what to do next" is a valid wall. Drop yours in the comments. Let's go!

@Bill Widmer I've been avoiding this for months. All my personal and business were mixed together. Feels good to have them separated. Now I am organizing individual folders.
Momentum Lab WINS- from quitting my "dream job" to creating a job that actually works for me
So a couple of months ago I did something really scary, I quit the job that I thought was my ideal dream job. The thing is, while parts of the job were awesome- like truly everything that would have made teenage Emily so excited and awestruck- after about a year it started to lose its magic. I kept trying to bring it back because I didn't want to admit the scary truth- this job was burning me out. So I tried making changes, talking to my boss, and I got a pay bump and leadership role as director of ketamine therapy services and yet I still came home feeling burnt out and unhappy. Then I realized it wasn't about the money (though lets be real, even as a director, the money therapists makes in a clinic setting is usually pretty low, especially for someone with a master's degree) it was about the lack of choice and freedom, it was about spending all of my time helping someone else create their vision instead of creating my own. So I quit. And it has been terrifying. As someone with ADHD having that external structure that a clinic provides was really helpful- even if it was also killing me inside. I found myself in a new scary position after putting in my resignation notice- my hours and pay have been steadily dwindling and in less than 2 months, I'll be completely out of the clinic and on my own. Meanwhile my to-do list for my private practice has been getting longer and longer, while also still having so many things to do to wrap up my clinic work and just basic life maintenance. I found myself with more free time than I've had in years yet feeling paralyzed, unable to start anything unless there was a strict deadline. That's when I realized I needed help and joined the momentum lab (the day before it started, in classic ADHD fashion). Since then, I have been checking things off of my to-do list consistently, have gotten more consistent clients in my private practice (literally two new clients today!), and am starting to feel less paralyzed and more confident.

That's great! I am a therapist in a private group practice. I know I could make more money if I went private. I like that we have a team of billing specialists who handle all the paperwork and insurance. I focus on my clients and clinical notes. When I think about going private, the thought of dealing with billing makes my stomach turn. Maybe someday! Yay you for taking the steps to do it yourself!
Welcome to me. Plus, celebrity podcast guest.
Hey All. I joined in November but haven't been very active, til NOW! I joined from another community upon the man/myth/legend @Brian Diep's insistence, and just released a podcast w/another legend you may know, @Bill Widmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaIV7a2cUPk&t=1683s (also on audio but here you can see our pretty faces). My podcast is about recovery, and uncovering my ADHD has been such a big part of that I can't stop doing episodes on it. My family thought I was a crazy jerk my whole life (especially for being chronically late) so I like to joke they all owe me/us and apology (and I'm now borderline punctual!). I'm out to educate the world and eradicate the stigma behind addiction and ADHD. DM me if interested in being a guest.

Thank you for sharing! I 100% support the cause to increase understanding and reduce stigma around ADHD. It is so much more than just being distracted or poor attention. It impacts all areas of our lives. ADHD and Addiction like to hang out. Up to 50% of people with ADHD struggle with addiction due to using substances or other addictive behaviors to self-medicate and self-manage. Proper ADHD treatment often helps them overcome addiction.
Hello Fellow Founders!
This is the first community I joined when I joined Skool back at the end of October. Which feels so far away now! I am a therapist with ADHD and my speciality is ADHD. I joined Skool originally to host my course on ADHD. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I can say that I found a community. I've already made so many great friends on here. Over the last few months, I've been focused on learning Skool and navigating community building. I am a therapist and educator first and an entrepreneur second. It's a bit of a learning curve, but I am slowly figuring it out. During this time, I was withdrawn from most of the communities I joined. I am making an effort to increase my activity in other communities. So you will see me posting more in here. I am all about ADHD Neuroscience, understanding ADHD patterns, and giving people facts and real life strategies that they can use to better manage their ADHD. I truly believe that if you can understand the Why behind ADHD that is the first step to improving symptoms of ADHD. Please reach out with any questions - I am always happy to help!

@Bill Widmer Thanks! I searched ADHD and this was one of the first communities to come up. I made all my first Skool friends in here and we still all chat and are in each other's groups.
Task Initiation explained with strategies!
Task initiation is one of the most misunderstood ADHD experiences. You know exactly what needs to be done. You want to do it. But your body won't move. You sit there, fully aware, and nothing starts. That's a neurological activation problem. Task initiation requires dopamine to activate the part of your brain that turns intention into action. In ADHD brains, dopamine is irregular. It doesn't fire reliably for tasks that feel routine or emotionally flat. Without that signal, the brain doesn't activate. No matter how much you want it to. Willpower doesn't fix this. The signal isn't there. Three things that actually help: - Change your body state first. Movement, cold water, music with a beat. Two minutes shifts your nervous system enough to create an opening. - Remove the decision. Write down the single first physical action for tasks you regularly avoid. Not the goal, just the first movement. When your brain doesn't have to generate the first step under pressure, starting becomes possible. - Use body doubling. Another person present, even on video, provides enough external stimulation to shift your dopamine. This is how your nervous system works. The wall you hit before starting isn't a character flaw. It's your brain waiting for the right signal.
