The root word that changes how you see yourself as a writer
Authority doesn't precede authorship. It grows from it. Language has been trying to tell us something about this for a very long time. The Latin root of authority is auctor: master, leader, author. We have spent so long treating these qualities as something that must be earned from outside sources—through performance, the right credentials, or external validation—that we have forgotten language itself points in the opposite direction. Take the word courage. It comes from the Latin cor, which means heart. To be courageous is, at its root, to act from the heart. And confidence: its Latin root means to trust fully, to have complete faith in oneself. Authority is authorship. It is the act of putting your name on something that came from you. Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the willingness to speak from the heart even when fear is present. Confidence is not certainty about the outcome—it is the practice of trusting in your own knowing, your lived experience, and your unique way of seeing the world. None of these are destinations you arrive at. They are states of being. One way we hone these attributes is through the practice of writing one true sentence at a time, as Ernest Hemingway taught us. And the place where all three of them intersect, where authorship, courage, and self-trust come together, is writing your unique message. That is why I believe writing is one of the most profound acts of self-recognition available to us. Which of these words has felt most difficult for you to claim as your own?

Living Your Plan A Dream
I dropped a different version of this video for @James Bansbach over in his community. He's stretching, switching things up, and living his Plan A. This week he's offering a 7-Day Learn Hypnosis Challenge. Who wants to do it with me? What is your Plan A? Life's too short to be settling for a Plan B. Take a listen to "Daydream" by Lily Meola. Let's do this thing.

@Pamela Lynch this was really beautiful to receive 💛 thank you for sharing my friend
Hey Pam! What does 111 mean again? 😂
@Pamela Lynch I just saw 111 and it was SO glaringly obvious that it was a message it's not even funny lol. Can you remind me what 111 means again in numerology? 😂

When no one shows up ... do it anyway
What do you do when no one shows up to coffee time, courses, or, in my case, Sacred Writing Sessions? Do you let one of your cast of characters in to wreak havoc? (You know, Deirdre the Doubter, Anxious Annie ...) Or, do you pause, drop into your heart, and know it happens to all of us ... even when people pay to be there? I've been holding space for writers since 2019, and even when no one shows up I automatically open the Portal, meditate, and write. Not only is it the agreement I made with the Creator, I do it for client who hasn't shown up live for five years, because she knows, as a member, the Language Portal is ready when she is. And today, it gave me a chance to put on my headset, meditate (thanks @Zor Zen Den), and journal. If you had 20-30 uninterrupted minutes today, what would you most want to give your attention to? Sometimes naming what we need is the first step toward receiving it.
