The Power of Sacred Writing + Showing vs Telling
During this week’s VIP Sacred Writing session, one of our members shared that sometimes she writes 1,000 words in an hour. Other times, it feels like nothing is coming through. She didn’t force it. She paused. Reflected. Listened. And then the words began to come, more slowly than usual. This is the power of Sacred Writing and being in the Language Portal while you write. You begin to recognize that writing has its own rhythm. Sometimes the words flow quickly. Sometimes they ask you to slow down and listen for what wants to be expressed. Interestingly, our conversation about showing versus telling revealed another kind of rhythm in writing. “Show, don’t tell” is one of the most common pieces of writing advice, but it can leave us believing that showing is somehow better writing. It isn’t. Both have their place. Showing slows the pace. It invites your reader into the experience so they can see, hear, and feel the moment. Telling moves the writing forward. It offers perspective, creates transitions, and can reveal the wisdom or meaning behind an experience. As I write in the attached article: Show the experience so your reader can feel it. Tell the wisdom that helps them understand why it mattered. Good writing has a rhythm between the two. Perhaps that’s true of our writing process itself. Sometimes we write quickly. Sometimes we pause and listen. The practice is learning to recognize what the writing needs from us. What rhythm is your writing asking for today?

Saturday Spotlight + Celebrating the Rain
Happy Saturday, Portal Pals, I am deeply grateful for your presence here. First, can I still call you 'Portal Pals' since I changed our community name from The Language Portal to Sacred Writing? I mean the energy is the same, and we are still accessing and writing in The Portal. It's the means by which people discover us who don't know the magic of this community and the sacred writing session. Today's shoutout is to Karin Davis who is at the top of the 7-day and 30-day leaderboard. Not only that but she's top of the 7-day leaderboard in Self-Publishing Skool. I'd like to ce Karin is an author and writer of non-fiction, such as Star Lineages. and is looking for guidance to publish her books. She is on Skool to raise our vibration, bringing love and harmony, and share her work as an acrylic artist of aquatic sea life and lighthouses. Please join me in celebrating Karin, each of you, and the rain. If you remember, we've had a month of fire storms in central BC where I live. Added to our own dense smoke was that from Washington and Idaho. What are you celebrating today?

A Very Famous Win!
The Tortoise and the Hare. As children we just thought we were being read a fun little story. The teacher just thought she was keeping us entertained and hopefully teaching us a little lesson in perseverance. However, in light of what I have been learning about Emotional Intelligence, I now realize how the story of ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ goes much deeper. The tortoise challenges the hare to the race. Was this just a knee-jerk emotional reaction to the hare’s taunts? Or was this his response after pausing to consider the environment and what he had observed about the hare’s character and general behavior? The story doesn’t directly say. But we do get to observe the tortoise’s character. The tortoise was steadfast in his intention; he was mentally clear about his goal. Even when all the external signals told him he was behind, he didn’t panic; he didn’t rush; he simply pressed on. He didn’t get distracted by any external noise. He simply held the signal. The hare, on the other hand, wasn’t focused on winning the race. He was focused on the tortoise. But since the tortoise was moving at such a slow methodical pace, the hare got so bored he fell asleep. As a result of the hare’s lack of clarity, the tortoise quietly passed him by. And the rest is fictional history! “Slow and steady wins the race!” wasn’t just a lesson about perseverance. It was one of our first lessons in Emotional Intelligence. Look at how far we’ve come!

Divine Light of the Creator, I pray I become still in Your presence. To open my heart to the wisdom that already lives within me. And trust the process of releasing, receiving, and embodying my truth. Guard my heart, for it is the gateway of transformation. As I enter this sacred space where my heart becomes coherent with Your Light, I choose love before fear. I choose coherence before action. I choose to listen before speaking. I choose to trust the intelligence that moves through all life. I release the need to force, strive, fix, or figure everything out with my mind. I release every belief, thought, memory, and agreement that is not in alignment with the Light of my Truth. Where I have harboured stories of lack, separation, fear, unworthiness, or limitation, I offer them into Your Light. Not to fight, judge, or make them wrong, but to dissolve in the presence of a greater truth. To illuminate what is real. I remember who I am beneath every condition, wound, expectation, and inherited story. My false identities fall away. My thoughts are in harmony with the wisdom of my soul. Every place within me that has forgotten its wholeness awakens once again. My words become an expression of truth rather than fear. I remember that abundance is not something I must earn. It is the natural expression of the Divine Light of the Creator. I welcome abundance in love. I welcome abundance in peace. I welcome abundance in joy. I welcome abundance in creativity. I welcome abundance in meaningful connection. I welcome abundance in health, vitality, and purpose. I remember the truth I have always known. I receive it with love. I embody it with grace. My mind is quiet. My heart is clear. My words carry wisdom. My life reflects the Light from which I came. I remember. I receive. I become. And so it is.

The Language Portal has a new name
You may have noticed something different when you came into the community today. 🌟 The Language Portal is now Sacred Writing. 🌟 The doorway into everything we do here has always been through writing. Sacred Writing is the community we've been creating together—a place to become present, listen more deeply, access your wisdom, strengthen your voice, and allow yourself to be seen and heard through your writing. The Language Portal remains the deeper philosophy and methodology that informs our practice: where intuition becomes language and what is within you becomes something you can express and share. Write with us. The session dates and times remain the same and are on the Calendar. What changes when you treat your writing as sacred?
