I'm having lots of crashes or stalls because I'm a power user on Chat Plus.. Many of my chats with extensive images, pdfs and deep thinking and slowly crashing-some of my chats require constant refresh.. So I didn't know their was a Desktop Version which is far more stable. The desktop app does NOT create a new account. The desktop app is only a different window into the same cloud account you are already using. Your account, data, chats, and history live on OpenAI’s servers — NOT on your local computer. Installing or using the desktop app does NOT: - migrate your account - convert your plan - create a new plan - duplicate anything - erase anything - overwrite anything It simply logs into your same account. 2. Your plan stays EXACTLY the same (Plus stays Plus). Using the desktop app does NOT: - upgrade you - downgrade you - move you to Business - force a migration You sign in with the same email/password, and your Plus plan remains Plus.There is NO automatic upgrade path tied to the app. You must manually choose to upgrade before anything changes — the app will NEVER do this on its own. 3. You will NOT lose your chats, assets, PDFs, or rules. Your entire chat history is stored in OpenAI’s cloud. Nothing is stored inside the browser Nothing is stored on your computer. Which means: - Switching browsers → safe - Switching devices → safe - Using desktop app → safe - Using mobile app → safe - Your project files, PDFs, branding rules, EVERYTHING stays intact. 4. What happened to your friend Teresa is different. She upgraded to Business/Team — that is a completely different product with an account migration system, and yes, migrations can cause issues if not done carefully. But you are NOT doing that. You are simply logging into the same account from another interface.

Hi I’m unable to login to my chatGPT App I’ve tried everything chatGPT suggested last advice is to reinstall the App but then it’s says I’ll lose all data and I had a lot of work on it which was a work in progress… I checked VPN , privacy relay, update of app, ( but there was nothing to update) forced close, turn off WiFi & rebooted my phone… any other suggestions gladly welcome as hours or work will be lost. I also logged in with apple but that just created a new account where no data was saved. 🙏🙏🙏 can anyone help!!!

Original post follows: I’m standing here writing this in tears, and I want to give a very sobering warning to anyone who is considering upgrading from ChatGPT plus to a business Team’s account on ChatGPT. There is a a glitch that was unknown to me before I started this process, but is apparently well known in the open AI developer community that all of your data is deleted when you migrate it and you can’t get it back. Everything I’ve been building for months is just …. Gone. Other than what I had saved and backed up in my personal files, my entire ChatGPT history has been zeroed out, and it really hurts because this was like my external brain for both home and my business that I’m building. Open AI acknowledged that their company documentation failed to include a warning that all of my personal data would be deleted and everything that I have been working on since day one in my accounts has been deleted, and there’s nothing I can do to get it back even though I followed their exact instructions on merging my personal and business accounts, to the letter. I just paid $618 to upgrade my account to two seats on a business plan and merged the data from my personal account to my business plan. Within a minute or two of that transaction going through as I was following the step-by-step worksheet that ChatGPT itself printed out for me. My accounts froze, and I had to log out. I logged back in everything was blank. When I used my previous emails that I had my accounts tied to to log back in ChatGPT opened free tier accounts using my business email that I just paid $618 to open my business account on. I’ve escalated this to ChatGPT Support and they were extremely unhelpful. Basically they said sorry it’s a known issue and there’s nothing we can do. I was planning on shipping a product today using the ChatGPT business plan because it offers a secure link so that I’m not sending out raw proprietary JSON code.
