My YouTube got a Fresh Coat of Paint Today! 💙💚💛
If you came to today's AM office hours, you know that I tunneled DEEP into the netherworld of YouTube banners this morning. Getting the hang of the dimensions can be massively annoying, which is why I was avoiding it. However, I am SO proud of how this first iteration turned out. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/@IdentityBelongingCoach! There are tons of old videos here that will be going unlisted soon, so feel free to check them out—but I'm preparing to finally jump off into the deep blue of YouTube and I'm actually... Sort of excited about it. Let me know what you think if the aesthetic, and give me a follow if you're on! Happy Thursday and hope to see you all at the meet & greet today at 1:30 Central US/8:30 Central Europe!

Looking For Beta Testers For My New Mental Wellness App
Attention change makers ! You hold space for everyone else. But where do your clients go between sessions? I’ve been building something for the moments between breakthroughs—the quiet, invisible battles no one sees. shame.less is a soft tech tool designed to help women of color track emotional wins, process invisible grief, and reset in a way that feels affirming and culturally grounded. The MVP is live, and I’m looking for a small group of early users—including coaches and practitioners who want to offer clients a gentle tool for reflection and growth. If you’re a healer or guide and this sounds aligned, I’d love to share it with you. the link 🔗 to the “app” is here: https://shameless.site play around with it for a bit then if you wish fill out a quick Google Form documenting your experience: https://forms.gle/n9XMcoVDjr6gtJxS7 Note: this post has been approved by admin @Erin Corine Johnson :)

Felt Cute... Then Mainland Spain and Portugal Lost Phone Lines and Power Minutes Later.
For those that didn't know, the power grid went dark and mainland Spain (minus the Balearic and Canary Island systems), Portugal and parts of France lost power for 8-18 hours depending on where you were in the country. If you tried to get in touch yesterday and couldn't reach me, this is why. The wildest thing is that it also included our phone service, which is clearly enough to send even the most resilient into an instant panic. What got me, though, is two things, which I dove a bit deeper into on LinkedIn earlier today. 1. As a survivor of borderline poverty (I say borderline because I rarely truly went hungry and have always if nothing else had a roof over my head) as a child and teenager, the way my nervous system immediately went into "power save" mode to calculate the best route to pick up my child, grab a few supplies and (literally) camp out on the patio and cook over an open fire until the sun went down was really surprising. I didn't know quite how far my chill-in-the-face-of-utter-chaos has come until yesterday. 2. The amount of people that were as physically unprepared as they were psychologically unprepared for having absolutely no long-distance communication in addition to no power supply got me thinking a lot about privilege: social, geographical and situational. I say situational because many of the people panicking were not the ones stuck on trains, planes, cars and elevators with absolutely no way out for hours before rescuers and civilians showed up to help. I don't say any of this to diminish anyone's panic yesterday, but I am increasingly aware that what happened to us here yesterday can happen anywhere, at anytime. The worst here was a total collapse of our transport systems with delays at train stations, airports and on highways that will take days or more to re-regulate.

Glad that you managed well! It reminds me of Hurricane Sandy around 2012–I was still doing my first stint in college and my father had to bargain for gas ⛽️ with a shady dude from across the street, charge our devices with the car, and basically live in the dark for about a week 😬 I bought my little sister an adorable butterfly costume that weekend for the annual Halloween parade that she never got to wear (she is still mad to this day!); wasted money for sure, but the memories and the reading that I did was priceless.

Happy Monday, everyone! Big news! The Accomplice Accelerator Newsletter has just launched on LinkedIn, and I'd love your help spreading the word. This LinkedIn-exclusive newsletter is a biweekly publication giving my public-facing network a peek into what it's like to be part of the foundation of this growing Accomplice Accelerator Community. In addition to promoting our monthly webinars and inviting our folks to join us here on Skool, we will also be providing space to amplify some of the thought leadership in this group, as well as lift up the professionals that are navigating an uncertain future in our work in DEI, justice, antiracism and social impact. In the meantime, if you haven't yet checked out Dear White Men, replay access is now available for purchase with your forever $20 off discount in the classroom tab. ***IMPORTANT: As always, if you are experiencing financial difficulty, please get in touch to request a sponsored seat from our community access pool. Don't let cost be a barrier to doing this important work!*** Once you've tuned in, check our three recap posts to leave some reflections and questions that come up as you watch. For unlimited annual webinar access, there's still time and space to join us over at The Identity & Belonging Lab for $1 USD/day (first 100 members), where we'll be beginning our first 5-week Identity & Belonging Coaching sequence on February 3. Remember to click here to subscribe to the newsletter and share with your networks as we gear up for The Future of DEI webinars next month on February 20-21-22—stay tuned for a video coming tomorrow to fill everyone in. Take care and have a great week!

Nice work!
What are you hoping to learn at Dear White Men
What are you hoping to get out of the Dear White Men seminar next weekend? I'll be watching with my husband (we're both White) and hoping to learn ways we can use our privilege to uplift others.

I want the honest and genuine white people that want to change themselves to remember that their privilege is not just being in a race or class that gives you simple advantages over others. It is the framework that suppresses and oppresses everyone around them. White people have the clear advantage of not having to think about non-white people at all, not having to think about how their actions affect and impact other non-white people without any consequences. Meanwhile non-White people have to be constantly reminded that they aren’t white by society, treated like experiments in a lab or goldfish in a bowl, and scrutinized when they choose out of their own volition to “divest” (a loaded word but the only one I can think of) from white society.

@Emily Daw it’s no problem! And I was talking about structural racism being easier to dismantle and keep in the “history books” once white people (and honestly everyone) get with the program.
