I shared this photo because Hairspray came up in our last meeting. This is the late Tex Gathings. Hairspray was based on the Buddy Deane show in Baltimore. Tex worked for WOOK Radio in Washington DC at the time. When his radio station launched a television station, he went to Baltimore and copied the Buddy Deane show to create the Teenarama Dance Party television show in Washington DC. This is the show my musical is based on. So the two shows are not only connected in concept, but in history.

I received a return email. She’s traveling to visit with her children, but we are to meet when she gets back. She says she may not be the best person to speak with, but she will send me out with a meeting with someone else. Either way, to talk with her alone be amazing. I’m sure.
