Your favourite WWII novel?
This is, of course, a massively popular subject within historical fiction. I haven't actually read much HF set during WWII, though, being more naturally drawn to the 19th century. And it's so huge that it's kinda hard to know where to start! Of the handful I've read, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr is my favourite. I also enjoyed The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. What novels set during WWII are your favourites?

I loved The Whalebone Theater by Joanna Quinn! It was one of my favorites I included in my introduction post. I enjoyed All the Light We Cannot See as well and The Guernsey and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. Ruta Sepetys also has two WWII books I enjoyed - Salt to the Sea and Between Shades of Gray. They are technically YA but still very enjoyable. Another enjoyable YA WWII book is The Blossom and the Firefly by Sherri L Smith

@Zena Ryder it is epistolary! It’s been a while since I read it but I remember loving it. The Whalebone Theater starts in the 1920s I believe but it follows the siblings through WWII. I very much enjoyed it.

Hello, everyone! I’m Lisa Boyle and I love to write and read historical fiction. I have two series published, one that takes place in the mid 1800s and one that takes place in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Some of my favorite historical fiction novels are Book of the Little Axe by Lauren Francis-Sharma, The Whalebone Theater by Joanna Quinn, To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey, and The Hummingbird’s Daughter by Luis Alberto Urrea. Like many of you, I also highly enjoyed the Wolf Hall series by Hilary Mantel. So excited to be a part of this group!
