Yesterday I received a book from my dear friend, @Vicki Dunn called EMBERS from Richard Wagamese. I opened the book randomly to share one message with you today. A beautiful image with light shining through the trees on a snowy path revealed these words: “I am a traveller on a sacred journey through this one shining day.” Vicki chose this book, wrote me a heartfelt note, and sent it my way. Her experience with it brought her stillness, presence, and peace—and she thought of me. There is something very special about being remembered like that. Thank you, Vicki, for your generosity and for bringing Embers into my life. What is one thing you are grateful for today?

Today is a historic day and most of us remember every detail, conversation, visual. I lived in Toronto and worked for Wiley Canada. I arrived at work and my boss, the CEO, was in shock. Our head office was in Manhattan, and we had no idea what was happening or whether any of our colleagues or their families were in the towers. We listened on the radio when the 2nd tower was hit. Many of Toronto's downtown towers, the financial district, and CN Tower were voluntarily evacuated. I held space this morning during my coaching call to pray and share our memories. We talked about how the people in the small town of Gander, NFLD, opened their hearts, homes, and churches to the people who landed there. I'll be watching the movie about this, "Come From Away," this weekend. Have you seen it? When I was the Webmaster for Wiley, I'd go to the Manhattan office for 5-day stretches. I'd ask the team what night they wanted to go to dinner, so I spent the rest of the evenings on my own. My favourite was July 9, 2001, when I saw the classic Double Indemnity in Bryant Park (gotta love AI search). I went to a comedy club and always had one fancy dinner out by myself. One night, I went to the Empire State Building and took this photo. I never made it over to the Twin Towers, and within two months they were gone. What is something you remember from that day that you’ve carried with you ever since?

During the Self-Publishing coaching call earlier today, one of the members discussed her paranormal book for teens, so naturally I mentioned @Elizabeth O'Carroll as someone to connect with. I had interviewed Elizabeth about paranormal activity months ago, and know I shouldn't have been surprised that the first person to pop on our co-writing call tonight was Elizabeth, but there she was. And then the room glowed bright pink. @Ryan Clark had a beautiful sunset playing on his computer. The hot pink glow made me think about Dolly and her being present on our call. There we were—Elizabeth, Ryan, @Shannon Zagst, and me—each arriving with whatever we had brought into the room, and each moment connecting to another. I have been fascinated by the idea that we are all one and instantly connected on the spiritual plane the moment someone thinks about us, and us them. It's like an invisible thread that connects each of us. Isn't it extraordinary that when we think about someone, they call or text, or you run into them the next day even though you haven't seen them in ages? This is the kind of magic that occurs in Sacred Writing Sessions. Who came to mind as you read this—and what might happen if you reached out to them?

The moment I heard about Dolly Parton yesterday, I thought about Miley Cyrus. I think we shall all remember where we were and the clasping of our chest when we heard that Dolly had transitioned into the Spiritual Realm. This is part of what I wrote in this morning's Co-Writing Session. First, I looked up her birthday, January 19, 1946 and saw she was an 8 of Diamonds - The Sun Card. Of course, she was. Dolly's Light will continue to shine bright. She was a legend and her legacy will continue to ripple through the generations. Dear to my heart was her generosity in providing millions of children the gift of receiving books. The Imagination Library has provided children with 300 million books to date, and was inspired in 1998 by her father who couldn't read or write. Dolly's voice was angelic, and she was a prolific songwriter with 3000 songs to her credit. More than anything she was an extraordinary storyteller. Her light and lightheartedness will be missed by all who loved and admired her. My heart goes out to her family and all who Dolly embraced as family. We shall always love you, Dolly.
