I’m Taking Your Questions – Why Q&A Matters Inside This Community
Because most people don’t fail from lack of effort. They get stuck… and then they disappear. I’ve done it too.I didn’t know what to ask. So, I said nothing—and quit. I don’t want that to be you. If you have: • An important meeting coming up • A presentation you’re preparing • A moment where you don’t know what to say Post it in Q&A. You don’t need the perfect question. You just need to show up. That’s how you stop freezing. That’s how you start improving—fast.

I'm learning how to show up when I get stuck, and how to ask for help when it counts. Thanks for being here to help us learn.
Techniques
Alice can you give me some insight on a presentation challenge I’ve encountered. When presenting at a conference, what techniques can I use to effectively handle interruptions while staying focused and on track with my planned message?

This is a great question from Lisa about navigating interruptions during presentations. I found Alice's insight on the matter helpful for me as well. If we know our Intention, it serves as our North Star. 3 and 5 are really great numbers for structuring any message.
How To Not Shrink When It Counts
I've wondered for a long time how people readily speak up in group settings, whether casual or professional, and in which situations it might be advantageous to remain quiet. Is there a difference between speaking up to fuel the ego vs. sharing one's unique voice to remembered when it counts? What's a good approach to take to practice speaking up when it matters most?

@Alice Hlidkova This response is full of wisdom that speaks directly to my soul. It's so helpful. There's a ton here for me to incorporate <3 Thank you šŸ™āœØšŸ˜Š And thanks for recording it twice since the audio failed initially! P.S. Edit to my original post: "to remembered" should be "to be remembered". I am glad you knew! :)

2 weeks. 16 members. More coming 🌊
Thank you all for being here. We’ve just welcomed 16 new members—and more are joining us next week. This community is growing around one real problem: freezing when it counts. That moment in a meeting…you know what you want to say—and your mind goes blank. Not because your English isn’t good enough. But because pressure takes over. That’s what we’re solving here. Many of you are my students and friends—you’ve experienced this, and you’re training through it. And now, more people are joining us who are ready to stop overthinking, stop freezing, and start speaking with clarity. If you’ve ever lost your message mid-sentence…you’re in the right place. We’re just getting started.

I just defined the first principles for this community
I watched a video from @nicksaraev on first principles thinking, and it made me reflect on how I want to build this community. So I sat down and defined mine. Here are the principles we’ll train around: • Clarity > Fluency: Clear ideas delivered simply matter more than speaking fast or perfectly. • Communication = performance under pressure: Your real skill shows in meetings, decisions, and high-stakes moments. • Think first. Speak second: Decide on your message before you open your mouth. • Structure creates authority: Organized thinking makes you sound confident and credible. • Regulation controls delivery: If your body is calm, your message stays controlled. • Less words, more power: Say it once, clearly, and stop. • Practice > information: You improve by doing, not by consuming more content. • Real situations only: Everything we train applies directly to your work. • Authority is felt, not said: People judge your tone and presence more than your words. This is the foundation. Everything we do here—trainings, feedback, exercises—will come back to these. Because the goal is not to ā€œspeak better English.ā€It’s to think clearly, stay controlled, and communicate with authority when it actually matters. Credit to @nicksaraev for the inspiration on first principles thinking. Here is the video if you are curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOhndexmOj4&t=1s Which one do you feel you struggle with most right now?

Love this. These are great. The ones I'm working on are 'Think first. Speak second.' and 'Less words, more power.' Sometimes in conversations, people are afraid of silence, which makes it difficult to think before speaking. But the difference begins with me. If I pause before speaking, they will feel more comfortable. Staying concise, direct, and optimistic makes a big difference in how people view us. The optimism has to do more with your final point - 'Authority is felt, not said.' Sometimes my tone doesn't match my intent. Practice makes perfect!
