Toxins can make us FAT
Did you know that your body will literally store toxins in your FAT cells to prevent those toxins from reaching important organs like the brain, heart, blood, etc? Thus, the more toxins we are exposed to, the more likely we are to store fat. It’s a brilliant PROTECTiON mechanism that our body has in place. Instead of being mad at our fat, we can be grateful for its role in protecting us. Because of this, it’s also important to let go of weight slowly and mindfully. If we go too quick, as the fat dissolves, it can literally start to dump those toxins into our blood stream and make us sick. This research paper explores this phenomenon of super quick weight loss via GLp-1 drugs… https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10942849/ Slow and steady wins the race! There are simple things we can do to lower our toxin load and actively detoxify our bodies. 1.) Eat a heavily organic, nutrient dense diet that’s as close to nature as possible. Highly processed foods, synthetic ingredients like artificial colors and flavors, pesticides, herbicides, and chemicals preservatives are toxic to our bodies. 2.) Don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t be willing to eat. Unfortunately many lotions, make-up products, and creams are full of chemicals that go into our bodies via our skin. 3.) Stay away from inhaling chemicals as much as possible. Use natural cleaners like vinegar and essential oils. Avoid scented candles- those are often chock full of toxic chemicals which we ingest when we smell them. 4.) Actively detoxify by using infrared saunas, moving your body, jumping on a trampoline, oil pulling, tongue scraping, and skin brushing. The articles below go deeper into how toxins can make us fat, for anyone who wants to nerd out on this topic more :) https://www.alexfergus.com/blog/how-a-toxins-are-making-you-gain-fat-toxic-diet

I do not use any hair coloring for 9 years, but after henna, which is the healthiest I think and they have different shades, I used brands like Naturtint and Herbatint.

Vote for the next Book to Thrive!
In Books to Thrive, we use books to learn, to heal, and to thrive! When I got curious about Intermittent Fasting, I went to the library and got all the books I could find about the topic. I read those books and created a plan for myself that felt good and made sense. That plan helped me to release over 70 pounds in less than 6 months, after years of not being able to release weight in any notable way. Intermittent Fasting may or may not be interesting to you, that’s not actually the point :) The point IS…if we read books that we are curious about and act on what we learn in them, we can transform our lives! How to participate in Books to Thrive? 1.) Vote for the book that’s most interesting to you, in the poll below 2.) Whatever book gets picked, go to your local library, Libby, your local bookstore, or Amazon and get the book. 3. ) Read the book. Share any insights or ahas that come up for you in the Thrive Community 4.) Look out for the Live Books to Thrive Zoom meetup, join live to chat more about the book :) Easy peasy! Now, cast your vote below for the book you’d like to explore :)

Sad News
A few days after the inspiring Conversations to Thrive Self-Inquiry session with Empowered Wellness Nurse Coach @Angela Johnson and brave participant @Sheena Mason-White, Angela and I had a one on one talk. We chatted about her becoming a co-moderator for this group, which we were both excited about! Sadly, on the evening of our chat, Angela received news that her brother had passed away unexpectedly. Her sister asked her to come to the States as soon as possible. Angela is now in Connecticut, moving through grief and funeral preparations with her family. Please send prayers, love, healing thoughts, encouraging words, etc. to Angela and her family during this difficult time. This life is so precious and wonderful. Remember to tell the people close to you that you love them, including yourself. I appreciate every single one of you and am sending you virtual love and well-wishes, wherever you are on your journey! You can read the obituary here
