Hey guys how’s it going!?
A couple of things. 1. Honestly I feel SUPER guilty for not showing up in here everyday. 2. I’ve been overthinking showing up everyday. Not wanting to do so without having a lot of value to share. 3. RDM (my production company) is growing and we’re looking for more editors. :) 4. I miss ya’ll. Okay that was a few things. What ya’ll been doing? You been on my mind a lot.

Completely missed this! Life is so good! Traveling alot! Also landed my ideal client who didn't questions the price, signed the contract and paid the deposit within 2 hours of our call. You were right...they do exist! Also sad I missed the Q&A...I'll be at the next one!
Lessons Learned from Hiring Editors the Past two weeks
Whats up ya'll – the last couple of weeks I had to hire editors because our workload got crazy. We had so good (and bad) things result from this & I just want to share it with you quickly. 1. Giving footage to an editor with no direction can be hit or miss. Try your best to explain clearly with references what you are looking for 2. Ask them to send you the first 15 - 30sec of the video to make sure you are aligned. This saved me hours on the back end. 3. If you can't give a clear vision - make the revision process plain by giving them your top adjustments/tweaks. its better to get an important 6 changes out the way vs 72 changes that rebuild the whole video Have any of you hired a new editor to edit something for you? What insights can you add?

I agree with number one! Whenever I deliver footage, I also send 2–3 examples of the style I want for the video. Sometimes I’d share past videos I’d created, or I’d pull examples from social media. Along with each reference, I’d note what I specifically liked about it and how I wanted that element applied to my current project. This gave the editor a clear visual to pair with my instructions, which made communication much smoother.
Canon & Sony Color Match
Currently crewing up for an event and some of my videographers have Canons cameras while others have Sony cameras. Do you all have experience editing videos that combine footage from both cameras on one timeline? I'm a little worried about the difference in color profiles. Any advice would be helpful!

Thank you! It's in September.
Social Media or Not
So I know how social media helps a persons business get reach etc however, does anyone find themselves sometimes not wanting to use it at all? I'm not sure if i'm being stubborn by not using it or just not using wisdom seeing that I want to grow my business. Anyone relate?

I definitely have times when posting to social media feels like a chore, but it has definitely helped me build credibility and maintain audience awareness of my brand. If someone sees me filming at an event or meets me while networking, they'll often ask for my IG handle before a website or business card, and with one quick scroll they can see my portfolio, informational videos I've shared, and also my interactions with clients, businesses, etc. Posting 2x a week is already alot for me, but it definitely pays off in the end!
