My Other No Wheels (or No Reels) Passion
A couple of pictures from this weekend from one of my other passions that has a lot of connections to my traditional archery journey. I have been fly fishing for nearly 40 years. About eight years ago I discovered Tenkara and haven’t looked back. It is a method of fly fishing that uses a fixed length line (think single string) and no reel (think no wheels). It is extremely well suited to the small mountain streams I like to fish. One of the other aspects that links it to traditional archery is you have to get close and really think about your presentation set up because of the fixed length line.

@Colton Deline The casting cadence and angle are subtly different but easily transferable from western style fly fishing. I like using fluorocarbon level line. The presentations you can get on small (and large) streams with that set up are phenomenal.

Truly inspiring!
My giveaway quiver
So I somehow won a monthly giveaway here a few months ago, if you guys remember the prize was a handmade quiver built by Mr. Richardson. My favorite game animal is bears, and this quiver funnily enough is bear themed with a matching armgaurd. If you saw the pictures back then you know its beautiful but I promise you the pictures dont quite capture it. Especially the fit. It fits me like a glove, I couldnt be happier with it. My biggest issue with back quivers in the past has been how much my 32 inch arrows stick out 🙄 trees tend to pull them out for me. But not this one, I tried. It's much deeper than my bear archery back quiver. Any way enjoy the pictures from the range! Don't mind the carbons in the bow quiver, just there for the weight.

Very nice!
Position, distance, angle
The pic with three arrows was standing, kneeling on both knees and kneeling on one knee. The second pick was standing, kneeling on both knees, sitting on ground and kneeling on one knee. I’m scheduled for shoulder surgery on the 28th. Doctor told me the damage was already done so if I could tolerate shooting my bow, I wasn’t going to hurt anything. Also said, if I put in the work like I did with the left shoulder,I will be hunt ready by October 1st to bow hunt.🎉

Great shooting!
Tennis ball and stumping
Wandering back behind the house chasing the tennis ball and a few scattered stumps this past Wednesday. I have a fuzz under 12 acres. It’s not much, but it’s my lil piece of the pie. Doesn’t hold deer, but they travel through all the time.
