Day 1 Recap so far
We are off to a great start and thank you to everyone who attended our first two live sessions. We had some great conversation and learned quite a bit. If you missed Chef @Andrew Brooks presentation, the replay is up and you can watch it here #Building a Healthy Food Foundation w/ Chef Andrew. @Anna Murrietta had another thought provoking session asking us to rethink what connection means to the children in our lives. You might be surprised. Watch the replay here #Small Moments, Big Connections with Anna. Tonight at 7 pm CDT @Beth Hanning will be joining us to share opportunities for the teens in your life to get published. If you can’t join live, the replay will be available by morning. Don’t forget, we also have several pre-recorded sessions. I’ll be highlighting those throughout the week but since it’s Sunday, why not check out some new hobby ideas. We have #Amigurumi Vibes with Auli, #Dungeons & Dragons for Families with Cam, and #Bread as Science with Chef Henry Which will you choose?

Wiggle games Ball toss for the win!!
Kids were stuck in the house all day except for a couple hours swimming... 8 got off work and my wife said "pull up that place on Skool that gives us the games! So I did and found the ball toss game! It was too hard for the kiddos so we turned it into a co op game where they threw it and I tried to catch it in the basket! Great no screen fun for about 15 minutes! (The 8 year old in the way back got about 20 feet away!

@Mary Nunaley perfect!
When quality time sounds great... but the reality is different.
Play and connection are so important, they're the foundation of so many beautiful family memories. But for so many families, "quality time" is anything but.😫 👉🏼 Maybe your kid pushes back the second you suggest doing something together. 👉🏼 Maybe they say yes, then flip out five minutes in. 👉🏼 Or maybe they flat-out refuse to spend time with you. 👉🏼 Maybe what is supposed to be "fun" family time leaves everyone drained and miserable. 👉🏼 Maybe you've stopped suggesting things altogether because you're tired of the drama that follows. If you relate to any of these, believe me, you are NOT alone. Promise. Hi!! I'm Janell, a Certified Parent Coach. I help parents of strong-willed, emotionally intense kids find their way back to connection and cooperation, without the yelling or power struggles. On Thursday, August 20 at 8 a.m. CDT, I'm sitting down with @Mary Nunaley during the Unplug and Play Summit to discuss "When Connection Time Meets Resistance." We'll chat about some of the reasons kids push back during connection time, and how to start creating the moments you're actually hoping for. 🩵 ⬇️ I'd love to hear, what's your biggest challenge when it comes to play or quality time with your kid?

8 agree, it's so hard. I have a 8-4&4, I can never get all three of the kids to wants to do the same thing.
Twas the Night Before the Summit
’Twas the night before the summit, and through the community, Families were planning their week of curiosity. The calendar was checked. The favorites were marked. Four classrooms stood ready, though still quiet and dark. The flour was waiting. The yarn was nearby. The robot had stories it wanted to try. The guitar was tuned. The questions were brewing. The speakers were busy their notes they were reviewing. Parents were asking, “Which sessions are we doing?” Some planned to cook. Some planned to create. Some wanted the portraits before it got late. Some said, “We’ll watch the replay. We’re always behind.” And I, at my keyboard, with tea close at hand, Was checking each classroom and reviewing the plan. Tomorrow the doors open. The waiting is done. A week of connection, learning, and fun. You do not need perfection. You do not need it all. Choose what fits your family and answer curiosity’s call. Then close out the calendar and get some sleep tonight. Unplug & Play begins tomorrow. It’s sure to delight! Let’s make it memorable. See you there.
