Advice for newbies to vet med?
I'm grateful for all the passion and wisdom that people bring to this community. We have members that are just entering the field and others that have been around for 30+ years. Let's pay it forward (as the cool kids say). What advice would you give someone new to vet med in regards to caring for their physical and emotional health? This is a safe space and there are no wrong answers. What works for one might not for another. But having more tools in the toolbox of health can only help! Please share your perspective.

Hi! I’m Lily Preston. An RVT of about 15 years. I work in GP but have dabbled in specialty. I love GP because it gives me just enough action to keep me on my toes but I enjoy the calm of a well visit (when that’s actually the case 😅). I’m excited to be a part of this group because I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of Vet Techs. I want to be a resource and sounding board for them. I’ve started prioritizing my own mental and physical health and have seen such a difference in myself and how that reflects in my career. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone here!

There are many in this community who have years (or decades!) of experience in vet med. I know you have pearls of wisdom to share - and maybe a few things that didn't work for you. I'm calling out... @Tanya Warner @Lily Preston @Marissa Razo @Edwin Sevillano @Stacey Goude @Tammi Dinges @Darlene Van Housen @Jennifer Edwards @Sonja Olson ...just to name a few. Drop some tips for the rest of us please!

Where to start?? Meal prep (makes fitting in lunch so much easier) early bird workouts (definitely don’t have the energy after a long day), at least 80oz of water daily (great for cognition and the body), tracking food - but also enjoying food. Not letting any food be “bad” - it’s all fits!
