Goodbye July Hello August
Well - I stepped away from working on sync licensing pitches in July, but I have 3 newer tracks to pitch for August. Just sharing with the group here on Skool, as you all inspire me to keep trying...https://s.disco.ac/ebpizcphhrjl

Newer mix up for "Status Dust," with small but important changes. 😂
What artists do these songs sound like?
Hey all! Finishing up a five song playlist that I will be sending out this week. Feedback is completely welcome, however, the thing I could really use your help with is figuring out what artists each of these sounds like! I'm finishing the metadata tonight and tomorrow so whatever artists you feel would fit well under the "Sounds Like..." would be very helpful! Thank you!! https://s.disco.ac/wxafcjguqvkz

I don't feel knowledgeable enough of pop artists to offer a 'sound alike' BUT I JUST wanted to say your production and mixes are sounding amazing! 🤗
🎚️The mixing trick that forces you to stop tweaking
Once you bounce your MIDI tracks to audio, you can't touch the patches anymore. No more "let me just adjust this one articulation" at midnight. It locks the arrangement and forces you into mixing mode, which is exactly where you need to be to finish. If your sessions are full of VST instruments you keep reopening and re-tweaking, this is the fix. Commit, bounce, move on. Comment "bounced" if you're going to try this on your current project this week and let me know if you actually do this on every session!

Yup - I do this step for every song when the production and arrangement are done, and then import all the audio tracks into a new project for mixing.
📬How long do you actually wait before following up on a pitch you sent?
Comment with your number! I'll share what I've learned actually works in sync, and it's probably slower than most people guess.

Right now my thinking is once a month, with the goal of having new music in my catalog to highlight.
I'm still relearning this lesson 20 years in
We had a coaching call this week where someone told me they felt like they'd never reach "good enough." I told them what I still tell myself: there's no finish line in this business, just small improvements stacked on each other. The Japanese have a word for it, Kaizen - which means continuous improvement, not a leap to some final level. I'm still learning new things about mixing, songwriting, even gear I've used for years. If you're waiting to feel "done" before you call yourself ready, you'll wait forever.
