When would you ask for a down deposit or holder fee and how much?

Got this job from Facebook ads, I have 4 quality leads in just over 4 days running the ads. Lot was around 1/2 acre. Variable but flat terrain, dense brush, total machine time 5 hours. I don’t know how many pictures I can add but this is the coolest before/after I got! Big difference! Quoted it out at 1,800 as a base day rate. Question for y’all: When would you start quoting jobs rather than day rates? At what point do you have “enough” data to make that decision?

I just wanted to let everybody know what’s happening with my Facebook ad campaign. Some of you may know that I decided to launch my business without owning a machine yet. I wanted to prove to myself that there was a market and that I could sell jobs before I purchased one. With the help of Facebook I think I’ve convinced myself that it is doable and made an acceptable business case. Wife also agrees, so that kinda helps. I ran a 5 day ad campaign (still going), and spent $202. I got 7 leads from the forms(6 disqualified lol), 2 messenger conversations and received 2 calls. I went for an estimate yesterday for a 1/2 acre and booked it April 4 for $1500 with a deposit. On the way home, my phone rang and scheduled an estimate for today. Went today after work and evaluated the job. He said he got 4 other quotes, but liked my confidence. Booked it! 1 acre mulch for $3350. So….I spent $202, booked $4850. 🔥 I knew this was going to work. All of the info from @Austin Gray just made sense. Located a machine. Time to break the bank.

in the time I’ve been doing this I’ve already had some amazing interactions and connected with some awesome people. Today we went out to do a qoute and we ended up spending an hour and a half just talking with this guy about his life and travels and property he purchased. He found a full blown fall out shelter in a barn with Cold War era food supplies inside!! Just an awesome guy, awesome story, awesome day… And accepted qoute on the spot! We are inherently in sales. We are selling ourselves and selling our services but when you can just be yourself and take the time to actually connect to people, you’ll sell yourself. Look at everyday as an opportunity to make real connections instead of just “quoting a job” and I promise you’ll find success one way or another. Can’t wait to get started on this property!
