I’ve just finished today’s Writing Room exercise myself and I really enjoyed writing from my future self. It shifted something for me and I came away feeling lighter, more focused and calmer. I’d love to know: What was it like writing from your future self? Did anything surprise you, make you laugh, feel unexpectedly clear, or take you somewhere you weren’t expecting? 🩶

THE WRITING ROOM - A Page From Further Along
Today we're changing the viewpoint. You'll begin by writing from where you are now, then move forward in time and look back at this version of yourself. Not to fix anything. Just to notice what becomes clearer when you give yourself a little distance. The Writing Room is waiting in the Classroom. 🩶

I’m curious: When do you naturally find it easiest to write? Morning, evening, on a walk, in a café, tucked up in bed, five minutes before you’re supposed to be doing something else…? 😄

I like to mix it up! I usually write at my desk in the morning before I begin work, and on Tuesdays I write during our Write With Me session. I've also started taking myself out on Thursdays to find beautiful and unusual places to write, which I'm really enjoying. I always write when I'm travelling, whether it's by bus, train or plane. There's something about being on the move that seems to open things up for me, and I find that's sometimes when I do my deepest inner work. I keep my gratitude journal beside my bed, although I seem to alternate between writing in the morning and at night. There's always so much to be grateful for. So I don't really have one favourite time or place. I think I enjoy having different ways to write, depending on where I am and what I'm doing. 🩶
THE LENDING LIBRARY - Making Journaling Fit Real Life
Sometimes the problem isn’t journaling. It’s trying to make journaling fit a version of your life that doesn’t actually exist. This week’s Lending Library lesson is now in the Classroom, and we’re looking at how to create a practice that can stretch and shrink depending on the kind of day you’re having. There’s a little experiment at the end to help you work out your own three versions of journaling. Have a look when you get a minute.

THE LENDING LIBRARY - Making Journaling Fit Real Life
Devotions - Ash & Flame
Today feels really special. Devotions: Ash & Flame is officially out. And it also happens to be my 15th wedding anniversary, which feels very fitting because this whole journal is about love in all its different forms. The passionate kind, the steady kind, self-love, memory, devotion, the love that changes us, the love that stays, and the relationships that shape our lives. It is a 12-chapter poetry journal, and I know “poetry journal” can sound like it might be a journal for writing poetry, but it isn’t. The poems open the door. The journalling is where you take it somewhere of your own. That’s one of the things I love most about this collection. Love is rarely one neat feeling, and neither is writing about it. It can be beautiful, complicated, nostalgic, joyful, messy, funny, painful, comforting, and sometimes all of those things at once. And that feels especially right for this week’s theme of honesty. So I wanted to share it here with you today because Write Space is such a big part of why I keep making these journals in the first place. You can have a look here: Ash & Flame on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0HHY3JPPK And thank you for being here while I keep building all of this. It means a lot. 💗 Silver x
