I’m about to run my first consulting offer with a test client
I’m about to run my first consulting offer with a test client, and I’d love a second opinion on a decision I’ve been going back and forth on. I’ve spent about a week building the offer, and I want to test the delivery before anyone pays for it. My plan is to do it for free, not at a discount. My reasoning is that a discount still makes the person a paying client, and a paying client deserves a finished offer. I want my first run to be with someone who knows it’s a test. I also decided what “worked” means before I start, so I can’t talk myself into a good result afterward. It’s five things, including whether they finish onboarding and whether they understand the roadmap at the end. One thing I realized is that a free run can only tell me if my delivery works. It can’t tell me if people will pay. That’s a separate test. So I’m curious what you think. If you’ve tested an offer before, did you do it free, discounted, or at full price? And what do you wish you had decided before you started?

Visibility is the thing I’m obsessing over right now, so here is where I am with it.
I’m posting on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Skool, and I just started on Substack too. I’ve heard good things about it, and I’d rather find out for myself than keep hearing about it. (Six platforms. Yes, my calendar has opinions about this.) I heard a quote recently that stuck with me: a strong handshake can take you where your degree can’t. The more I build, the more true it feels. Every real opportunity I’ve had lately started with a person, not a credential. I sent one cold message to a stranger and ended up building something with him. Someone I’d never met reached out to me on Skool and asked for help. Nobody asked to see a certificate in either case. That’s why I care about visibility. It isn’t about the numbers on a screen. It’s about being findable by the people I’m supposed to meet, so the handshake can happen at all. I’m also keeping one rule for myself. The goal isn’t to be everywhere. It’s to say the same true things in different places, so that anyone who finds me anywhere hears the same story. -Khubaib

I had a conversation with someone on Zoom on Sunday
He said: I want to start AI venture but I am so confused. Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, every day new tool. Which one should I buy. I said: I don't have subscription for any of those. He said: Then how do you get your work done? I said: My direction is simple right now. So simple free AI tools get my work done. And that is the goal, right? Work gets done. He said: So what should I do first? I said: Know your direction first. Do your work. See where you get stuck. Then ask how AI can help that stuck part. Then look for that one AI. Don't start with AI. He said: Oh, so it comes down to my own work. I said: Exactly. Your work decides your AI. Not AI decides your work. He basically reached out to me over here on Skool. I did not charge for call. I love helping people.

So I am finally doing the part where majority quits
I built my website, my offer, my onboarding, and my backend in one week. Now comes the part where most people quit. It’s outreach, and I’m not going to pretend it’s comfortable. (Building is the fun part. Nobody warns you that the next step is asking strangers for their attention.) I’m not afraid of rejection, though. Rejection is proof that I had the courage to show up and take the chance instead of sitting around waiting for someone to find me. Here is how I’m doing it: - I found my leads with Grokbot. I gave it a simple prompt and talked to it like I was talking to a friend. As an AI consultant, my honest advice is to talk to AI like it’s a friend who is quite dumb. Be clear, be patient, and explain what you actually want. It came back with 20 leads that match my ICP, which is one-on-one coaches. - I’m not opening with “Hey [name].” Everyone does that, and I don’t want to sound like everyone. - I’m not using any automation. I want to build real relationships with the people I talk to, and I can only do that by doing it manually. (Yes, the AI consultant is doing outreach by hand. I know.) - I’m not asking for a call. A call is a big ask for a stranger. My CTA is the free Solo AI Fit Check (self-audit), which is a much lower-friction way to say yes. My opener is going to be something like “You know what I really admire about you...” and then I’ll research their profile and their website so that it’s actually about them. If I can’t find something I genuinely admire, I won’t send the message. I’ve already sent the connection requests, and now I wait and see who accepts. I’ll share what happens, including the replies and the silence.
