It’s been almost 25 years since I did my first options trade, covered call on Legato Systems on 11/14/2000. In 2003, I stopped trading all together and just invested in the SP500. I started trading stocks a few months ago and at the boardroom event, @Jeffrey Cowan awakened my passion to look into options again. Sold a cash-secured put and it closed out today for a 1.55% return in 41 days! Would have closed out last week had I learned about just going for a 50% profit which I picked up from joining this community.

Here’s how to do it step-by-step: 🏦 Step 1: Create a Schwab Account If you don’t already have one, go to Schwab.com and create a free account. - You don’t need to fund it yet. - This will give you access to the Think or Swim platform (now part of Schwab). 💻 Step 2: Download Think or Swim Head to Think Or Swim and download the platform for your computer. - Choose the correct version for Mac or Windows. - Log in with your Schwab credentials. 🎮 Step 3: Launch “Paper Trading” Mode Once you’re in Think or Swim: 1. On the login screen, select “Paper Money” (that’s the sandbox mode). 2. You’ll start with $100,000 of simulated funds — perfect for learning and testing strategies. 3. I took the $1,000 I received from my bar mitzvah and put it in the stock market. During the dot-com boom I grew it to $20k — and then during the crash, it went right back down to $1,000. Painful, but I learned a ton from that experience. Over time, I rebuilt.
