Breathwork Q
Hey all, I had done a few of the Breathwork sessions and at times I find myself breathing in/out with my lips pursed, other times with my mouth more open (hot breath style) and other times short and rhythmic and other times elongated and often with noises. Should I focus on one or the other - is finding a faster rhythm important/better or rather whatever cadence feels good so long as there are no gaps at the top or bottom of the breath? Any input would be appreciated- Thanks!

@Tyler Cardwell This is a great question. From the Soma+IQ perspective we don't place a specific emphasis on a "right way" of breathing but more so finding the pace of breath that is right for you. The speed isn't as important as the depth of your breath. You want to ensure that you are breathing down into your diaphragm, especially during the first half of a Soma+IQ breathwork session. It is really about finding a depth and rhythm that you can sustain, while also giving your body permission to change pace depending on what you are moving through. I invite you to continue playing with your breath and find the way that is right for you.
Is it time to redefine success?
In this week's episode, Steven and I dove into the top of success and why it can sometimes feel like a threat to our nervous system. We talked about various way this might show up in your life (self sabotage, avoidance or numbing), as well as, ways that we can start to rewire our nervous system so we can create more capacity to handle success. That you to everyone who joined us live and brought your questions to the conversation. Whether you joined us live, or tune in via the replay below, drop a comment and let us know how this one landed with you.

@Jessica Amaya-Jimenez We have quite a few saved in the community. You can also always find the time and link for new podcasts that Steven and I record in the calendar tab here on Skool. We actually have one scheduled for this Friday at 11 am PT.

@Hajer Assiri Such a great question. When I first started my coaching practice I tried to hold the space of having it all figured out. After all, that was why people come to me is because they don't have it figured out. However, the more I sit with clients the more I see the benefit of showing vulnerability and sharing the struggles that I am still working through. That made me more relatable to my clients and gave them a breath of fresh air that it is actually okay that they don't have it figured out and that I am not here to figure it out for them, but to simply walk the path alongside them while they discover the answers for themselves. Of course, I am not saying to bring all your woes and personal challenges to your sessions, but when we can show our clients our vulnerability it goes so much further than simply showing up as if we are living perfect lives.
03/18/26 – REPLAY: Soma+IQ Somatic Session with Alyssa
Hey Somatic Academy VIP Tier members! Thank you to everyone who joined the session today. It was a really grounded, spacious experience working with the body in a slower, more intentional way. If you joined live, we’d love to hear: What did you notice as you tracked sensation in your body? Did anything shift as you moved between activation and safety? What supported you most in staying present without trying to change anything? The replay is now live in the classroom. 👉 CLICK HERE to watch. Take your time with this one. It’s a good one to come back to when you want to slow things down and reconnect without pushing. P.S. If anything subtle came up for you, don’t overlook it, those small shifts tend to go further than we think.
Hi everyone
I’m so excited to be here. My journey into somatic work started after years of living in my head to manage stress, only to realize my body was holding onto everything I was trying to ignore. I finally hit a wall where talking wasn't enough; I needed to actually feel and release. Joining The Somatic Academy is my commitment to that healing. My goal is to deepen my mind-body connection and learn practical tools to regulate my nervous system daily. I'm looking forward to growing alongside you all.

Have you ever experienced imposter syndrome?
On today's live podcast @Steven Jaggers and I break down imposter syndrome and what it is as well as what it isn't. We dive into how it has shown up for both of us and how we have learned to work through and with it. Let us know in the chat below what this conversation sparked in you. If you were not able to make it live click the video below to watch the replay.

@Sonia Bhandari Thank you so much for this message! Imposter syndrome is definitely a nuanced topic and I am very happy to hear that Jaggers and I were able to break it down in such a way for it to really land with you. Excited to continue to dive into these topics, and bring them to new depths, as Jaggers and I record more podcasts.

@Jessica Amaya-Jimenez I really appreciate how clearly you articulated this. The way you separated alignment from the feeling of being a fraud, and named both the challenge and the benefit of it, feels very honest and grounded. There’s a lot of self-awareness in how you described the patterns and where they show up for you. And the piece around fear of being seen adds an interesting layer to it all. Thank you for sharing this so openly.
