@Lotte Cutts I basically ran out of people to ask. I might do some more of course. Never say never!
New experience
Ok i must share this. Today in the morning i posted couple of videos at jazz fb site in Vienna And i wanted play with somebody. French guy wrote me And invited me for the gig. I played couple of songs with them and i was absolutely terrible.got Lost in the solo, shit sound etc. EVERYTHING went Wrong. One time came guy to play with us who plays with Stochello Rosenberg,i was told😂.i Guess i pissed the v uys off a bit...Its nice to record videos at home and pretending to be able to play. Nice clash with reality...Now Its time to start properly practicing ang going to jam sessions everywhere.

Firstly, great that you did this. Secondly, it’s never as bad as you think. Literally never. Thirdly, I sometimes go play at jams and come away raging with myself because of various mistakes and issues that came up in my playing Fourthly, this is all part of it and is a great moment to stop and think “ok, what did I struggle with here? How can I fix this”. Look forward to working that out with you!

@Viktor Houf there you go! Great stuff! Tbh I can tell from the varied and cool song choice you always have, that this music has got a hold on you.
Day 1 of the 5 Day Challenge!
It’s your first day! Congrats for taking the challenge. Comment “day 1” on this post so we can cheer you on and get cracking in the course in the classroom! In our first video lesson in the course we are looking at learning the melody to Lady Be Good by ear and committing it to memory, using it to bounce off of with some improv. Use this thread to ask any question or post your progress video when you have practised the steps in the video. Happy practising

@Viktor Houf best thing iv read all day! Agree with all of it. One thing that happens to us is that when we are in practise mode we hear all our mistakes because we are really aware of our intention. When you give it some time and listen back to yourself in a weeks time, you might suddenly be pleasantly surprised. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that none of us can hear any of those issues you are talking about. You sound great!

I'm still working on this at the moment. I took a short moment whilst my son was napping today to try and get these first 3 choruses up to speed. Not quite... Not bad but it needs a lot more slow practise.

What’s going on in Learning Jazz Violin?
Hey all, Some updates here… THE 5 DAY CHALLENGE The 5 day challenge has been going for a few weeks now and it’s been amazing! So many people jumping in and getting at it, learning the ropes of jazz violin and showing up to practise each day! If you are new to jazz violin or just want a simple challenge to get you working and sharing your success with others, go check it out in the classroom! PRACTISE CLUB In practice club we just finished working on “Indiana” a tough tune with lots of changes. We are going to make a quick pitstop now at a slightly simpler tune… SWEET GEORGIA BROWN I’m creating the etude right now, we will be working on that tonight at 6pm. If you fancy trying out a session we run from 6pm UK time, just send me a message and il send you a link. COACHING I still have space for 1 more person to work with me personally, if you are interested in making a big change in your playing. Book a call below… https://scheduler.zoom.us/matt-holborn/jazz-violin-chat MOVING FORWARD The success of the 5 day challenge has really got me thinking. I’m starting to plan how I can use the challenge format for all of the courses in the classroom. It’s so nice to see everyone’s progress as they go and it would be cool to see how we can make that happen together. Any thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

@Maggie Ma I play a C major 7 arpeggio. It sort of implies an Am9 arpeggio, which is the ii chord. The ii chord is sort of "interchangeable" with the V7 chord in a way.
