Monday morning mindset boosters
Happy Monday everyone! I’ve been toying with idea of starting each weekday with a short set of affirmations. I’m really not a morning person and affirmations can help get my brain in the right place for the day. Here’s what I came up with after a ‘chat’ with ‘Jeepy Tea’ this morning: 🌞 Monday Morning Mindset Boosters Purpose and Progress - I build momentum one small win at a time. - Today, I move closer to the business I envision. - I’m not here to be perfect — I’m here to make progress. Confidence and Control - I run this business — it doesn’t run me. - I trust my skills, instincts and experience. - Every challenge is a chance to level up. Focus and Flow - I choose clarity over chaos. - I protect my time and energy like valuable resources. - I focus on what matters and let go of what doesn’t. Resilience and Positivity - I’ve solved harder problems than today’s. - I embrace uncertainty as part of the journey. - I’m grateful for the freedom I’ve built. Growth and Leadership - I’m building something worth being proud of. - My actions inspire confidence in myself and others. - I lead with integrity, creativity and intention. What do you think? Do you use affirmations?

@Elene Marsden maybe I DO use affirmations after all, then. I frequently do say aloud to myself "FFS come on, Oldfield. Get it done." (Only when I'm working on my own and am against a deadline, and am prone to procrastinate. To say it out loud in public might mark me out as a wee bit "odd" ??😆). @Andrew Laws , it's really great to see my bestie @Elene Marsden is in this group too. She knows that although we have way different approaches, I am always respectful of others' preferences. There's no "right way" except what works for each person.

@Sam Parnell ah yes (and great to see you here too, pal!). Sue Hall is a legend of local networking, teaching all kinds of people (but especially women) how to forge effective business relationships. I like the fact that she's exactly the same whenever and wherever you encounter her. Consistency of character is an excellent quality to have.
Comet AI Browser hired a car for me!
Every now and then I have to hire a car, I walk pretty much everywhere, but there are times when a couple of hundred miles would just be… a bit much on foot. Anyway, I was on a car hire site, stuck, clicking the same button like an idiot wondering why it wouldn’t let me proceed. Then I remembered, I’ve been trialling the Comet AI browser. So, I asked the in-browser assistant what I was doing wrong. It politely pointed out my mistake, fixed it for me, and then submitted the form. That’s equal parts freaky and brilliant. Anyone else been playing with AI browsers yet? If you're curious about AI browsers, Comet is a pretty good place to start, especially because it's free.

Cor! I could have done with that today, when the Ipswich.Love form wouldn't accept my email address as valid! Probably I had mistyped or something and my frazzled brain just couldn't spot the error.
Would you let AI control your email inbox?
Perplexity just announced a personal assistant that drafts email replies for you. Not suggest... not nudge... actually writes the thing. This goes beyond what Copilot or Google Gemini are doing (which is more “hovering ghost” than actual help). It’ll fill your draft folder with ready-to-send replies. Here’s my take: 🟢 The idea of reviewing a tidy set of drafts every morning? Yes please. 🔴 The idea of AI sending replies without me checking? Absolutely not. That’s how friendships die and lawsuits begin. Get it from the horse's mouth. Curious what you lot think; would you trust an AI to reply to your emails?Or is this the start of a slippery slope to sounding like every other corporate automaton? 👇Let’s hear it.

Crumbs. How terrifying a prospect. It feels like discovering your over-enthusiastic school work experience student has "helped" you by answering everything. Cue rictus grin as you begin sifting through the comms carnage.

About to reward myself for winning an ideally matched new client and concluding someone else's campaign. My reward? Diverting my phone to voicemail and crashing on the sofa for a nap. 😆 Enjoy your weekend, everyone.
So many new members this week! Welcome aboard!
We've had loads of new members join this week which is brilliant. I'd like you all to say hello to the following people, and if your name's on the list, please tell us a little bit about yourself. @Ricky Cohen @Bj Chong @Richard Maydell @Justine de Mierre @Hannah Ruffles @Kat Marriott @Liz Drury @Chris Feasey @Steve Accardo @Dominik Ostrowski @Clare Lucas @Stuart Davis @Adam Rothwell @Lisa Gaunt @Mihai Paun This community runs on connection, collaboration, and a splash of chaos, so don’t just lurk in the shadows like a ninja on a stealth mission. Say hi, ask questions, join a convo, even if it’s just to debate whether AI is magic or madness (spoiler: it’s both).

@Andrew Laws Yes, what began as a pandemic "side hustle" on Zoom (to help lots of businesses pivot their work and PR online) was just such interesting work that I never stopped it! The list of professions I've served through the PR coaching service is now up to about 50! I was an early adopter of Zoom because I used to work in travel and hospitality PR, where most of the clients were abroad. Team meetings had to happen that way. So it seemed a natural leap to encourage people to use Zoom, Teams or Google Hangouts (as Meet was first named) to start telling their PR stories, after the lockdowns stopped any first nights, private views or in-person launch events.
