๐๐ฅ Exercise Objective: Learning to Identify Distributions & Retracements in an Uptrend ๐ฅ๐
The purpose of this exercise is to train your eyes ๐ to recognize what a retracement looks like inside an uptrend and what a distribution looks like within that same trend.
As you already know, an uptrend is simply the general direction of price moving higher over time โฌ๏ธ๐
In ProRealTime, this often appears as a sequence of predominantly green candlesticks ๐ข๐ข๐ข pushing upward.
Inside that upward movement:
๐ Distribution = The larger, stronger expansion in price moving WITH the trend (upward).
๐ป Retracement = The temporary pullback AGAINST the trend, often appearing as a smaller sequence of red candles moving downward ๐ด๐ด
What I need you to begin noticing is this:
โ ๏ธ Markets rarely move in a perfectly straight line.
Instead, they tend to move rhythmicallyโฆ
๐ Long Distribution
๐ Shorter Retracement
๐ Long Distribution
๐ Shorter Retracement
๐ Long Distribution
๐ Shorter Retracement
โฆrepeat endlessly ๐
Over time, you should begin observing that in healthy uptrends:
โ
Distributions tend to be larger in size
โ
Distributions often contain more momentum
โ
Retracements tend to be smaller in range
โ
Retracements temporarily pull back before continuation
The larger move advances the trend.
The smaller move pauses the trend.
Then price often continues.
This behavior repeats over and over and over again ๐

๐ Almost every market
The market is fractal ๐งฉ
Meaning:
The same behaviors appear repeatedly across different timeframes.
The goal of this exercise is NOT prediction โ๐ฎ
The goal is:
๐ Pattern Recognition
๐ง Building familiarity
๐ Developing market intuition
๐ฏ Training your brain to see rhythm, structure, and probability instead of random candles
Train your eyes long enoughโฆ
โฆand eventually youโll stop seeing:
๐ฏ๏ธ Random Candles
Youโll start seeing:
๐ Structure
๐ต Rhythm
โ๏ธ Probability
๐งฉ Context
๐ฆMomentum

2๏ธโฃ The Retracement that followed ๐
3๏ธโฃ A short explanation of why the retracement was smaller in degree than the distribution before it โ๏ธ
โญ Bonus Question:
โAfter doing this exercise, do you believe the market moves more randomlyโฆ or more rhythmically than you previously thought?
