I have been running my mobile mechanic biz now for about 6 months and I know I have way too many socket sets I carry around with me. When your a shop mechanic and you have a huge tool box or multiple tool boxes it is not a big of a deal. However, being mobile, space and weight is a premium. I know cars as of the early 2000's all standardized on metric, but I have been very concerned that I will run into a nut/bolt that I don't have a tool for. So, I have been carrying EVERYTHING. When I watch Ben or other mobile mechanic's they all seem to have 1-4 rows of sockets and that is it.
So, I have some questions.
- Do you guys carry SAE sockets? If so, what do you carry?
- Do you guys carry both chrome and impact? If so, which sets do you carry with both?
- Do you guys carry both deep and shallow for 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sets?
- What sets are you guys carrying any why?
My socket Sets:
