Too many sockets?
I have been running my mobile mechanic biz now for about 6 months and I know I have way too many socket sets I carry around with me. When your a shop mechanic and you have a huge tool box or multiple tool boxes it is not a big of a deal. However, being mobile, space and weight is a premium. I know cars as of the early 2000's all standardized on metric, but I have been very concerned that I will run into a nut/bolt that I don't have a tool for. So, I have been carrying EVERYTHING. When I watch Ben or other mobile mechanic's they all seem to have 1-4 rows of sockets and that is it.
So, I have some questions.
  1. Do you guys carry SAE sockets? If so, what do you carry?
  2. Do you guys carry both chrome and impact? If so, which sets do you carry with both?
  3. Do you guys carry both deep and shallow for 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 sets?
  4. What sets are you guys carrying any why?
My socket Sets:
  • Metric - 1/4 - Deep - Chrome (4mm-14mm)
  • Metric - 1/4 - Shallow - Chrome (4mm-14mm)
  • Metric - 3/8 - Deep - Chrome (6mm-24mm)
  • Metric - 3/8 - Deep - Impact (8mm-19mm)
  • Metric - 3/8 - Shallow - Chrome (6mm-24mm)
  • Metric - 3/8 - Shallow - Impact (8mm-19mm)
  • Metric - 1/2 - Deep - Chrome (10mm-32mm)
  • Metric - 1/2 - Deep - Impact (10mm-24mm)
  • Metric - 1/2 - Shallow - Chrome (10mm-32mm)
  • Metric - 1/2 - Shallow - Impact (10mm-24mm)
  • Metric - 1/2 - Deep - GripEdge Socket Extractor (19mm-25mm)
  • Metric - 3/8 - Shallow - Quinn Bolt Extractor (10mm-19mm)
  • SAE - 1/4 - Deep - Chrome
  • SAE - 1/4 - Shallow - Chrome
  • SAE - 3/8 - Deep - Chrome
  • SAE - 3/8 - Deep - Impact
  • SAE - 3/8 - Shallow - Chrome
  • SAE - 3/8 - Shallow - Impact
  • SAE - 1/2 - Deep - Chrome
  • SAE - 1/2 - Deep - Impact
  • SAE - 1/2 - Shallow - Chrome
  • SAE - 1/2 - Shallow - Impact
